Patino Fan Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Dead ball, 2 competitors trash talking (no profanity) a double technical foul called. Why?
madman Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Unsporting behavior by both players. No taunting, baiting or trashing talking is allowed. This is specifically explained in the pre-game coaches/captains meeting and all are told that if this type of behavior occurs, a technical foul will be assessed.
16thBBall Fan Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Also I think if either got a second in the game they would be ejected.
Clyde Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Also I think if either got a second in the game they would be ejected. Correct. I assume the original question was posed because there was no benefit to either team since it was a double T. However, the KHSAA wants sportsmanship enforced.

True blue (and gold) Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 You hit the nail on the head. Hopefully the players (and their teammates) will catch the drift and shut their mouths and JUST PLAY!! :thumb: Exactly...sportsmanship is a key to KHSAA's mission.
Preachit Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 I hate it when the refs say during the pre game that they will not issue warning for unsportsmanlike behavior and then warn a player about talking trash, slapping the floor after a call, or clapping in another player's face.
JPP Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 :thumb: Exactly...sportsmanship is a key to KHSAA's mission. I believe that it is also. Too many officials let the taunting slide IMO which is not what the KHSAA intends. I realize some are slow to call the T because they are afraid they just caught the retaliation, but if it was consistently called everytime, they could clearly hear what was said or see the body language, It would eventually fade.
Sandman Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Dead ball, 2 competitors trash talking (no profanity) a double technical foul called. Why? As others have correctly stated, trash talking is unsportsmanlike conduct per KHSAA rules, and subject to a T. If these guys want to talk let them compete on the debate team, if not, just play ball.
