EC led 49-20 at the half and then just coasted and I mean coasted. EC and Raceland actually tied in the 3d quarter 16-16 and then Elliott outscored them by 10 in the 4th quarter. Very uninspired 2d half from the EC point of view. So many starter-sub combinations one couldn't keep up with them. Not a lot to say except EC took care of business. Better be ready tomorrow with East coming to the Hook.

 

Boyles is a terrific player and can really shoot the ball and also can really get off the floor with some tremendous jumping ability. Just needs some help for Raceland to be a good team.

Although the Rams were clearly outmanned, they were playing with out one starter (Cody Barker) who has missed the last three days of school with a stomach virus, as well as Jeremy Barr being under the weather. This is a young Rams team, but no excuses. EC was clearly head & shoulders above the Rams.

Well . . . I just got home from the game and I've got to say that the most exciting part of the entire evening were the technicals (both called on Raceland). One was on the Raceland coach and the other was on a Raceland player.

 

We really didn't play that well but I figured they were conserving their energy for all the games over the next week.

Shane Davidson was a former Ram player I believe

in the late 80's who died unexpectedly.

 

His parents have set up a Scholarship and they use

the Elliott game each year as the Classic.

Just a little background on Shane Davison and his family:

Shane was a three sport athlete at Raceland, football, baseball, and basketball, He had a congenital heart condition, that was not known about until his untimely death. He graduated in 1991, and passed away in 1993 at home, in his sleep.

 

Shane was not a superstar athlete, but excelled in all three sports due to a good work ethic and normally out hustled everyone else in all three sports. Shane was a TE/DE in football, and was a big part of the football team. Shane was an infielder in baseball and contributed for four years on the baseball team. Shane played forward, at 6'0" on the basketball team and normally led the team in rebounds and was lock down defender who normally guarded the other teams best player.

 

Shane's mother Cindy was a Health/PE teacher at Greenup County High School, and is now retired. Shane's father Scott, had a short, 1 year, NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys, before a career ending knee injury. Scott is now a small business owner in Greenup County. The Davison's are a great family, and set this scholarship up to benefit an athlete, in Shane's name.

 

I'm proud to say that I knew Shane and played sports with him throughout my athletic career, from little league all the way through high school. I am also proud to call the Shane, Cindy, and Scott friends.

Grrat post Ram, I also know the Davidson's and they are first class people all the way. "Scottie" (Shane's dad) was and is a long time Rams fan and the Davidson's support has always been present a Raceland. I can honestly say that I never saw either one of them without a hello and kind word from them. Shane as you said was a super kid with all the heart, hustle and desire in the world. Shane just flat 'Outworked" everyone in sight. Shane Davidson and his family will always be remembered at Raceland :cry:...."Once a Ram, Always a Ram".:thumb:

Yes that is correct, check another thread on this week for Elliott.

I thought that Raceland missed alot of open shots with a team like Elliott you must shoot the ball passing will not score you points. I dont know if the Rams was scared to shoot hopefully they have learned from this game. Elliott could have won this by a larger amout if they wanted hats off tothe coaching staff of Elliott.

Elliott enjoys playing at Raceland, it is the best facility in the region. Elliott and Raceland have a long tradition of playing each other, even when one team may down for a season. It shows great sportsmanship from both teams to keep a game on the schedule. IMO Ashland should take a lesson from their Raceland neighbors and reschedule with Elliott.
