February 2, 200917 yr So who else do you see going in the hall next year? Carter, Sharpe, Dawson, Emmitt Smith, and Jerry Rice? Anymore names?
February 2, 200917 yr The writers are morons. How can the 2nd all-time leading receiver not get in TWO years in a row? How is Dick Lebeau not in when he had 67 ints in his career, placing him 7th all-time? Did you have to play for a Super Bowl team to even get a sniff?
February 2, 200917 yr Author So who else do you see going in the hall next year? Carter, Sharpe, Dawson, Emmitt Smith, and Jerry Rice? Anymore names? This guy will have to wait. He won't make it next year, IMO. Tim Brown will have a shot and he is on the ballot for next year. Sharpe and Carter may still have to wait even after next season. The HOF doesn't take a ton of guys from the same position in any one given year. If you think receiver, Rice is getting in. Only one other receiver might get in, so you throw Brown, Carter and Sharpe into a hat and I think Brown gets the first nod (my opinion, of course). Paul Tagliabue is still on the ballot as well. I think he will get in eventually and next year might be his shot.

Cris Carter, played 16 years had 1,101 receptions for 13,899 yards and 130tds. Carter was an 8 time pro bowler and 2 time first team all pro. Tim Brown, played 17 years had 1,094 receptions for 14,934 yards and 100 tds. Brown was a 9 time pro bowler. here are the links for the stats... http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BrowTi00.htm http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/CartCr00.htm

I did not realize there was such a difference in TDs.

February 4, 200917 yr How many times have we heard this: "All he does is catch touchdowns." Think Buddy Ryan ever regretted saying that? Anyway, while Rice is an obvious shoo-in next year...of all the receivers mentioned in the previous posts...I'd have to go with Carter. Simply put, the most amazing body control of any receiver I've ever seen (Rice included). Caught a ball once in college that was meant to have been thrown out of bounds. Guy was simply amazing to watch. :thumb:
