I'm sure the majority of kids will continue going to college. I think we're going to see this a little more often now. Maybe kids will quit trying so hard to qualify when they know they can go over seas and make some quick cash then try to get in the league.

He had no choice but to go that route. His test scores weren't going to be good enough to get in to college and honestly he had no interest in education at the time. He's doing what was best for him at the time.

Jennings' comments are not a surprise to me.

 

As some of you may remember, we used to have a thread about Paul Shirley and his blog on ESPN. It was hilarious.

 

Well, he wrote a book called "Can I Keep My Jersey?" and I read it. It, too, is hilarious and I'd recommend it if you're interested in basketball. But he mentioned in the book that he very rarely, if ever, was paid on time during his multiple stints in Europe. If I remember correctly, he even said that they still owe him some money.

I think the transition from Europe to the NBA will be relatively smooth for Jennings and I think he'll be a lottery pick. Tough to argue that this was a bad decision for him...

I think Jennings is the best player coming out this season. I've been following him for a while, since his Junior year in 06-07. I think he will end up being an excellent Point Guard in the NBA, he's athletic as all get out, a very good passer and shooter as well. I think the European experience will help Jennings in his Maturation process.

 

I read the article about Jennings in ESPN magazine and I think this will make him a better player than it would have playing overseas.

I would imagine it would be a bit of a transition to get used to the style of play in Europe. I can see where there could be a learning curve...especially for a guy who has NBA lotto talent. For starters, he may have underestimated the quality of play in Europe...and the adjustment to their style and rules.

 

Still, playing is better than sitting out and getting 1.2 million ain't bad...shouldn't hurt his draft stock at all, IMO. In fact, it might raise his stock since he's had to go through a year of struggling and not having everything come easy.
