January 23, 200917 yr The few thousand dollars they generate from this are simply not worth the hit on reputation and credibility. :thumb: I agree. This is small amount of money in the eyes of the University. It is more about getting people into the gym, not about making money.
January 23, 200917 yr Do you guys really think prospective players care AT ALL how much IU or any school for that matter charges for tickets? This is hysterical.
January 23, 200917 yr Do you guys really think prospective players care AT ALL how much IU or any school for that matter charges for tickets? This is hysterical. You missed the point. The point is that this makes IU seem like a lower-tier program. How many 18 year old kids remember when IU was an annual contender? They don't. So they go off of "their history" which is essentially NOW. So they look at a school in a decent conference (without much national excitement) and they see a school whose fans are not showing up and a school that seems to be desperate to get fans in the door. That's supposed to excite a kid? You don't think another school is putting that bug in their ear? It cheapens a once proud strong program.

You're completely underestimating these kids IMO. Crean has a Top 5 class coming in next year, and looks god for 2010 as well. I would say those 5 banners and the Championship game a few years back says plent yto incoming recruits. Once proud? No chance, lowering some ticket prices for one season that everyone knew was going to be bad(including incoming recruits) doesn't change a thing. :thumb:

IU has a lot of work to do in order to get back into the "top programs" discussion. Maybe Crean is the guy. I just know the IU just made it a wee bit harder for him on the trail.
January 23, 200917 yr Crean has a Top 5 class coming in next year Easy tiger. Solid class? Sure. No freaking way it's top 5...
January 23, 200917 yr I actually think it's a joke that IU fans won't go watch a team that is playing it's rump off, with a legit coach, simply because they don't feel they can win.....talk about fairweather. :thumb: I agree. As I have always said to some U.K. fans that start all of the classless trashing when the Cats are going bad.............."if you are not going to support them when they are losing then don't come back when things change and they are winning". A team doesn't need fans like that imo. (and I don't even like I.U., lol)
January 23, 200917 yr This is so funny. IU has stooped to charging $5 to see a game? That is bizarre. They are quickly becoming Northwestern and Penn State
January 23, 200917 yr I agree with Clyde on this one. I know this is a tough patch, but Crean seems to be well on his way to restocking the cupboard. They shouldn't lower the price. Gut the rest of this year out; hold on to the current scholly players; bring in 5 more studs next year and your back to competitive status.
January 23, 200917 yr JMO but I think that Crean will get the job done at I.U. (as much as I hope that he fails ) but it will be a few years, there is NO talent there now, he inherited a very bad team that was left in shambles. I will say that he has those kids he has on this team busting their butts and playing hard. They leave it all on the floor and do not quit. That says alot for them and Crean. (o.k., I have complimented I.U. far too much now, that should be my quota on that for quite a while......:sssh: )

January 23, 200917 yr UKMustangFan - I was just curious - who are your favorite college teams? In basketball I'm a UK fan first and foremost, but also follow Michigan. In football it's Michigan followed by UK in a distant 2nd.

Many of your UK posts make it seem like you're cheering against UK. I wasn't sure. Anyways, throw Morehead State in there and we're on the same page :thumb:

Anyways, throw Morehead State in there and we're on the same page :thumb: I try to show no bias when posting about UK. I, for the most part, can't stand UK fans though. They are some of the most irrational people I've ever met. (Not talking about people on here.) So if it makes any sense at all, I like UK basketball, but not the fanbase.
