BGP Rankings 1/22/09

The only thing that continues to baffle me is how Mason County is 11 spots ahead of Franklin County, when they lost to FC head to head on a neutral court. FC's only loss is to Holmes at Holmes, with a starter and the #1 guy off the bench not available for the game.

FC plays Scott County on Tuesday night so I can guess we will see if they are legit or not then.

I like your line of thinking. However, I believe Holmes and Scott County are on a level different than anyone else. (Elliott County may be as well, it is just harder to tell, and we don't play them - so no knock intended there.) I don't think a loss to Scott County nor to Holmes says much. The real tests will be the Tates Creek, Anderson County, GRC, etc. games.

I think Elloitt Co. is a top 5 team, but why did Elloitt County not follow thur and play in the King of the Bluegrass tournment. Before the KOB started the JoeB and Denny Show had someone on from the KOB and it was brought up that Elloitt was invited and accepted, but then cancelled.

Catholic, Mason County and Corbin are ranked 8,9 and 10. That tells me that the balloteers (for lack of a better term) think they're pretty evenly matched. And from what I've seen, they are.

If they are pretty evenly matched, then wouldn't you rank the team that has beaten the other head-to-head above that team?:idunno::thumb::scared::eek::confused::confused::confused::ohbrother:

Enjoy it while you can. What is being proved when you win by 30 plus? Pull the pedal off the gas and pull you starters at halftime if you have to. Embarrassing another team is not a good idea. I am sure you can remember when other teams would pull there starters when they played Elliott County teams from the past. Sportsmanship is all that I am saying.

Ok, but still, I want to hear your definition of how the game is supposed to be played?

What would you recommend Elliott do? Should they pull out of the region and try to be an independent team for one season and then rejoin next year or what? They are obligated to play district and conference teams. And thanks for the advice - I am greatly enjoying it (have been for the last 10 years). :thumb:

And I guessed I missed the obvious. Just getting to Rupp three straight years would be a pretty decent accomplishment. But you gotta play the games.

If just getting to Rupp is the goal then what is left to do when you get there?

Not necessarily. I think that the rankings must take in the collective body of work. It is possible that Corbin falls under the same category as Elliott County in that regard. It is also possible that some feel that the early losses to Knox Central and Scott were "worse" than Catholic's or Mason County's. Just offering a couple of possibilities.

And I sure won't fret about one or two spots in either direction.

Are you kidding. Hmm, I guess head-to-head means nothing then. Especially if they are evenly matched and you wanted a tie-breaker. A 14-game win streak doesn't mean much either, but hey, it's just my opinion and like I've said before, polls mean nothing. They are just there for argument sakes. You'll know who the best 16 teams are in the state come March.

Six teams represented from the 7th region in the BGP Top 20.Harder to win the region here than to win 3 games in the state tournament(to make it to the finals)

The sixteen Region winners will be at Rupp, not the 16 best teams.

Not the best 16 teams but the ONLY 16 teams :thumb:

Hmm...looks pretty good to me.

I might have EC in my top 4 or 5 but it's tough to argue them over Bryan Station, Eastern, or J'town. Only a month til March EC fans...be patient...your time to shine and perform on the big stage will come soon enough to prove all of us doubters wrong. :thumb:

We're very tickled to have a team in the top 6 :thumb: Its just an awesome feeling.

As they say #2 is only the last loser. It'll shake out in March and on Saturday evening, we'll have the only poll that only matters. That poll will consist of 1 team..the champs.

Nope that's the 16 best teams my friend. Does a No. 1 ranking get you to Rupp? Nope. Nobody remembers who was rated in the top 20 the week of the state tournament. Ranking means Nodda.:thumb:

I guess the AZ Cardinals are better than the Ravens, Colts, Giants etc.
