BGP Rankings 1/22/09

Featured Replies

As an Elliott fan, I am very honored to have my little team from the mountains in the top 20, let alone the top 10. I just love watching these young men play the game the way its supposed to be played. There is nothing better than watching a group come together to make a whole that is much better than the individual parts. Especially when you get a group of teenagers together that are willing to give 110% in every game. I am very proud of this group and will be there supporting them at every opporntunity :thumb:

The rankings look outstanding to me :thumb: The group that puts these together are really on top of things and produce the best rankings anywhere to be found, IMO.

Beating inferior teams by 30 to 50 is not how the game is played.

Beating inferior teams by 30 to 50 is not how the game is played.

I've asked this before, and I'll ask it again. If 30 isn't the magic number, what is? 25? 20? 8?

I've got it - let's have a mercy rule. As soon as one team gets a double-digit lead, call the game.

Please understand; I don't have a dog in this fight. It matters not to me whether Elliott wins or loses, by 1 or by 81.

The team I follow (big mystery to everyone, I know) travels to Sandy Hook pretty soon. If EC lays a 40-point whooping on MC; I will congratulate them and hope MC can make improvements.

Kinda like EC did last year.

And for the record, I think the rankings are pretty decent. I might move EC up a notch or two, but in the end, they're just rankings.

How in the world is Lexington Catholic rated ahead of Corbin? You've got to be kidding me? And, George Rogers Clark rated 13th? Ummm, what's going on here?

I have said it before and will say it again, EC's schedule will only hand them another first or second round departure at Rupp.

That may very well happen, but I wouldn't lay it solely at the feet of the schedule. Much will depend on the draw.

They have to play district games.

They have to play Region games.

They have to play All-A games.

It has been documented that there are open dates on the schedule. I know nothing about whose responsibility it is to fill them, and with what kind of opposition. I do believe that the schedule should be challenging (e.g. including games like Mason County, Anderson County, prestigious holiday tournaments) but not suicidal.

Corbin beat Lexington Catholic by three at home ... by the way ... and had the Knights down by double-digits for most of the second half.

Beating inferior teams by 30 to 50 is not how the game is played.

Ok then. Tell us your definition of how the game is played?

You are so right. Just beat them by one or two and make everybody feel good.:idunno::rolleyes::idunno::rolleyes::idunno::puke:

Catholic, Mason County and Corbin are ranked 8,9 and 10. That tells me that the balloteers (for lack of a better term) think they're pretty evenly matched. And from what I've seen, they are.

Enjoy it while you can. What is being proved when you win by 30 plus? Pull the pedal off the gas and pull you starters at halftime if you have to. Embarrassing another team is not a good idea. I am sure you can remember when other teams would pull there starters when they played Elliott County teams from the past. Sportsmanship is all that I am saying.

And I guessed I missed the obvious. Just getting to Rupp three straight years would be a pretty decent accomplishment. But you gotta play the games.
