Yes and? If you're 6'6, it's not to your advantage to play like you're 6'2. And if he is a sophmore, and 6'6 he may have some growing left, which means he should probably work on developing some kind of "big man" mentality to supplement his guard play.

I'm almost always in agreement with your post as I can tell you know the game. But I have to disagree right here. For some reason a lot of people in NKY think if you are 6'5 or 6'6 you should play the post. That size only translate to a wing player at the D-1 level. Arnold is a D-1 prospect on the strength that he is a guard not a foward slash big man. This is his first year of varsity and we are only halfway through. Pittman didn't come on until the end of last year and I think Arnold will do the same. As far as the next two years I know what this kid puts in during the summer. He will only get better and by his senior season he will be the number #1 player in the region.

Henley, Listerman, Schlarman and Faust almost have to be there based on their track record. For slot number 5 I like Chevalier, especially with the job he is doing this year. Shumate is definitely up and coming.

I could agree with you on Chevelier. I think he is a very good coach. Still don't think he has seen anywhere near the talent that Draud had while there but he still has done a very good job.

Another coach I'd like to throw in the mix and have heard great things about is Aric Russell of Newport. Could this be the year he finally gets things to work down in the All A. Sure has homecourt advantage to his favor.

Without a doubt he does have to deal with major issues year in and year out off of the court and that makes a good coach, no questions. My only question would he have as good of teams with less talent?

Would Rupp have been the coach he was if KY had not had talent? Would John Wooden been considered a great coach if UCLA had not had all of the talent they have had? You can be a good coach without talent but you will never be considered a great coach if you do not have "talent". You can know the game and teach players all you know it, but if they don't have the talent you'll never win the big game and what measuring stick do people use to determine if your a great coach - W's and Championships.

P.S. - who do most teams look to to find new coaches when a vacancy occurs? Assistants from championship teams. Just look at all the Pitino disciples who have went on to become Head Coaches.

1. Listerman-Cov Cath

2. Hicks- Conner

3. Schlarman- Highlands

4. Henley- Holmes

5. Mullins- Ryle

I will say I'm surprised how close they are in height.:thumb:

I knew I'd be right. :D (Insert winking smiley here...I don't have it anymore, for whatever reason? :irked:)

A good young coach to watch over the next few years is Tim Sullivan @ Cooper. Give him a few years to build the program and I believe he will start producing very competitive teams. He has gotten many of his coaching philosophies from coaching with some of the best programs in the state @ Mason Co. and Holmes and incorporates some tough defensive ideas that he got from coach Riley @ Warren Central. Keep an eye on him, he knows what it takes to win, is great with the kids and kids want to play for him.

I have known him since he was in JR High and he will do great things at Cooper, If they can keep him on the High School Level he will build a great program it will be compared to Cov Cath and Highlands in football if he stays.
