Rowan is rolling!

That they are. But Rowans coach didn't seem to happy with the way they played in this one. Obviously not happy with their press , as he still had them in it up by 32 with 4min. to go. They need to concentrate on playing without illegal use of hands, they won't get away with that at Diddle like they do in the 16th. (remember, they got in foul trouble there last year). Good luck to them when they get there.:thumb:

Rowan Co is very good.

I cant beleive you said they use their hands illegally.:irked:

That press they put on is the best I have seen at the High School Level.

They may run the table all the way to a State Championship.

Remember, some teams in the 16th can make 20 turnovers without being pressed! And yes ,they can use their hands with the best of them.

LOL - love the quote about "illegal use of hands" - this is like the 5th year in a row I've read these complaints on here. I think it's safe to say Rowan ain't gonna change because inferior programs lack the ability to handle it or coach it.

LOL! As far as the comment about being in the press up 32 w/ 4 min to go, it looked like to me they were playing F/C man to man...WITH THE FRESHMEN AGAINST RUSSELL'S VARSITY!

Why press any when up 32?

Again...It wasn't a press! it was straight man to man. And, by the way, did Russell stop trying to throw it in the post against the 5'6"-5'7" in. girls? No....that doesn't hardly seem fair.....

So, help me define press then, and for the record I could care less what defense was played for how long with any score, but I have to ask,,,,,what the heck do you consider a press then? Does it have to be zone, not man? Is there no such thing as full court man press? Does it have to include jump traps? Just want to be clear so I can identify in the future if I'm down 30 and my kids are being "guarded" the full length of the floor if I should run our press break or our full court man offense.

Yes, to me a press is an active, trapping defense. If you are being guarded full court and can't beat your man one on one then you've got issues; you may want to start with individual instruction. Many nights it's the only defense a smaller team has against larger teams, but nobody seems to care about that fact.
