noah2001
For the past five to eight years people have talked about how bad the program and the coaching is in Middlesboro. So this year after starting 11-1, who gets the credit? Coach Jones does a great job with that program and the young players he had last year have game experience and can play with anybody in the 13th. Coach Jones has had a couple of years to implement his system and change the attitude of his team and they have responded and some of that should be credited to coach Jones and his staff. Lion Mania
Don't know much about teams in that area like Pineville, Bell County, and Middlesboro. But, it looks like the Yellow Jackets have to be the favorite to win the All A 13th Regional. I believe your neighbors up the road won it last year, but it appears that Middlesboro is playing much better than Pineville. Could be a possible Middlesboro-Elliott County quarter-final on Friday night 30 January in the All A in Richmond?? Bishop Brossart IMO will win the 10th and the 10th-13th should be a close game. Brossart brings the clamp down defense each night out.
HDE
I think there were one or two people predicting a big year for Middlesboro before the season began.
4chs
Middlesboro may be one of the better teams in the region, although when you look at their schedule so far, it is really hard to tell. I'm not sure if they have beaten a team that currently has a winning record except for Buckhorn. I would probably have to rate them as the 5th-6th best team in the region. Things have went well so far for the Jackets and looks like their schedule has been part of the success. They have a good team no doubt, but games later againest Corbin, Bell, Knox, and Clay (IMO the hardest teams left) will show how good they are. I'm sure people in the 13th respect them. Leonidas
They have not played a very tough schedule, so I think alot remains to be seen. But they are very talented and maybe as talented on offense as anybody in the 13th.
Log Mountain Boy
Middlesboro has played no one that is any good really to this point. I am notsaying that they are not a good team, but they are very unproven. The big thig with Middlesboro is they simply do not play any defense, and haven't for a long time. I have not seen them this year, so they may have gotten better, but its always been a thorn in their side. When they start playing Corbin and Knox Central and Clay Co. and even Bell Co. we will get an idea of how good they are
HDE
I don't know if I'd put Harlan County into the "no one that is any good really" category. They are inconsistent but getting better and did beat Bell and Williamsburg (teams ranked ahead of them by Cantrall), as well as Iroquois, and took Whitley to overtime and lost to Middlesboro, Johnson Central and Grainger, Tenn., in the final seconds. The jury is still out on Bell, but I don't see any quality wins on Harlan Co's schedule either.
