I think the rule is that if no certified teachers apply then they can hire a non-teacher or something like that. I have seen it mentioned before.

Actually, I am not completely sure on this (I don't think so), but you would be greatly limiting yourself to include only non-teachers or those that are already on staff. I will find out the answer to this question, though.

It is in the state, have to hire a teacher over a non teacher. Also to coach in any way you must have 64 college hours. I am sure TC may have alot of nonteachers that would be great coaches.:lol:

Yes, but do they have to be teachers at your school?? There are a lot of potential coaches out there who are teachers. True Blue indicates that there are no teacher openings at TC. My question isn't whether the coach has to be a teacher, but whether they have to be at teacher at Trimble County?

ColonelMike, from what I heard, a coach has to have some position with the school in order to be the chaperone on away games. Although, some retired teachers still coach I believe, but maybe that is a different set of circumstances.

For boys and girls basketball and for football, this has always been the case at TC as long as I can remember.

In a big school system such as Lexington or Louisville, that's not such a big deal. But in the smaller school systems such as Trimble, that's a huge handicap. Might want to re-think that one.
