Getting the volunteer help can be a problem, but I know at Newport they get a good turnout from the same people. It would be nice to have some other parents pitch in - but I don't think you can make them. They have to want to be there for their kids and all of the others kids too.

I highly recommend chicken quarters or beef brisket for future roasts. Pork is just too expensive. OINK!:thumb:

 

It didn't cost us anything a local ATV club done everything and gave the boosters the profit. We had booster members helping but for cooking the actual pig they done it all with bake beans, corn, and some of the best taters around! Thanks for the suggestion if we have to purchase in the future I will remember your advice.

One of my favorite fund raisers is washing car windows at drive thru restaurants. The players do the work instead of the parents.

 

We'll do it 6 or 7 times a year at McDonald's or Dairy Queen or Wendy's. Sometimes two at a time if we can staff them. It takes about 10 players and a couple of adults to supervise at a time.

 

We usually go 7:30-1:00 on a Saturday morning. One shift goes 7:30-10:00 the other goes 10:00-1:00. We've never made less than $650 and have made as much as $1100. Not bad for a few hours work. And like I said, the boys do the work.

 

The only thing the restaurants ask is that we don't slow down the line, so you have to skip a few cars now and then to keep things moving.

I forgot to add. Our local Autozone donated all of the squeegies, and gives us a case of window washing fluid each time we do it. Dairy Queen donated all of the buckets for the washing fluid, and for the donation buckets.

 

We take pictures each time and send them to the paper with the names of all the sponsers.

Seriously? Yes.....and it all done by volunteers and some of the best help from what I understand comes from parents/alums who don't even have kids attending school there anymore or ever did...and yes, they too, are part of the Park Hills Mafia....:sssh::sssh::sssh:

To be clear, this money goes to the entire athletics budget and helps pay for the turf that went in during the 04 season and helps pay the mortgage on the new school that was built in 04. It doesn't all go the teams.
