Come on Coach Copley, we are ready for you to get to Greenup County and we are going to give you all the support you want and need...

A few of the boys are currently working out , but they need a head coach put into place so they can pull together as a team.

Copley has turned his back on these boys, even though they had nothing to do with his dismissal. Copley has a lot of growing up to do. Good Luck Greenup County.

 

 

I seriously hope this opinion dosen't represent the sentiment of the Pikeville football program......if so, maybe more than a coaching staff needs reshuffling

Don't get me wrong: Coach Copley is a good coach, with a very very strong work ethic. I'm not sure why he was let go, but do know first hand that these kids didn't have anything to do with his termination.

 

I do know ..the talking to the kids.. that he has turned his back to them.

 

Which is sad..because a lot of them did look up to him as a teacher and coach.

As long as he fulfilling his paid teaching contract, which includes at least one period of a body building class, YES, he should be on the school grounds.

 

Or resign his postion as a "Teacher" and move on down 23.

 

As long as he is a teacher and employed he should conduct class. As long as he is teaching weight lifting, that is all he has to do in conduct his class. He is not responsible for making sure they are properly trained in regards to football conditioning or strength training. That will be for the new coach or the administrative person(s) who fired Coach Copley. If he is using his personal days and sick days and is absent.......well, isn't that what any teacher would do? Spend time looking for a new job, house and the like? I am sorry Black Panther, but you cannot have your cake and eat it too. Coach Copley owes nothing to the program or to the kids. I am sure that the number is minimal with regards to kids who feel he is letting them down. They are old enough to know that he has to put food on his table.

Coming from a fan who has just went through the difficult waiting period of selecting a new coach, I know it is tough. Hang in there Pikeville!

I can understand the anxiety of just sitting and waiting to see who takes the job. I am having a hard time understanding why a coach has not been hired especially with Spring ball in about 6 weeks. Pikeville will have to work their butts off to catch up.

Maybe nobody is wanting it??? They could keep offereing it and keep getting turned down. Who knows what is going on!!!

How many coaches has Pikeville went through since 2008? I can think of at least 3 in 10 years.

Hillard Howard retired sometime in the early 90s and Bill Allara coached for a season or two, maybe 3. After that I'm not sure. Was there somebody between Allara and Mayo?

 

I know Mayo coached the 97 season, but did he coach 1 year or two?

Then came Chapman who coached 98 & 99 I think.

Then McNamee from 00-04

Then Jackson from 05-07

Then Copley in 08

And now _____________ ?

True, hard to establish stability with that kind of turnover. You lose a lot of time in the offseason in these situations and this year is a case in point.

 

Going back to 1997, that is 6 coaches in 12 years, counting the new hire, whoever it turns out to be.

 

The powers that be in Pikeville need to get it right if they ever want to rebuild this program.

Is this another case of "parents and politics" coming before what is best for the boys?
