Harrison County 74 Deming 61

Featured Replies

The Black Devils have alot farther to go than the Deming faithful had figured.

Deming and Bracken County seem to both have a lot in common. Talent at both schools to have the records that they both have and both communities upset about the losing, coaching, etc. Deming is as big a mystery as any this season, thought they would seriously challenge Brossart for All A, shows how big defense is in any sport.

Deming has a long way to go. Continue to play the game the way they are playing and the most points they'll score is possibly 60 and that is not enough to win a game when there is not 5 people playing defense, blocking out etc. You have a 6'6" man that is only scoring 2 or 4 points and the outside shooter only putting up I shot, suffer the losses. Can anyone figure out why this is happening? Not much a mystery to me!

The Black Devils have a nice little team but in order for them to be successful, they must become more agressive on defense. Defense creates offense!! Tonight there was very little defense and rebounding was terrible. They need to be patient and work for a good shot, not the first one down the floor with the ball shoot offense that obviously didn't work well tonight. This team is better than the way they are playing right now.

On another note, where are the Harrison County fans? The following for the Breds tonight was rather embarassing! These kids deserve more support from their community than what I saw tonight. Deming's crowd was great!

Get Well Soon Rex Schalch! Your team needs you!

Couldn't agree more, there has to be some defense played. You cannot tell me that Harrison would have made as many 3's as they did if defense was being played. First down the floor shooting will get you what you have received the last few games doing just that (The big " L").

I also agree that they are much better than they are showing.

Most people are with their families during the holidays, plus its a 45 minute drive to watch a district opponent.

Hopefully the lack of attendance was just because it was New Year's Day and we can expect to see Bred's fans in attendance on Saturday.

I only watched the first quarter; Deming fell behind by a bunch when they couldn't stop penetration by Harrison's #23 (Custard?). When he went out for a breather, Deming came back and got within a basket or two; but I didn't see the rest of the game and it wasn't on the radio.

Okay, I had to come back to ask a question. Is this a nice way of putting that the reason the Harrison fans didn't turn out was because they were only playing Deming? If so then I am insulted. Fans usally turn out when teams are playing a district foe, especially since their first scheduled matchup was cancelled. If that is the case, hopefully they will turn out in droves to see them play the defending state champion on Saturday.:irked:

Papa your summary is correct. Deming had no answer for #23, Custard I believe his name is. He could basically score at will.

Actually you go back the last few years and Harrisons following has really been down compared to 10 years ago or so they packed the house.Even there home games have been poorly attended.Im sure a lot of this is due to a dry spell in talent and lack of wins in Breds country.

This problem just didn't happen with Deming. I have always heard you reap what you sow. Now coach Johnson is reaping what he has sown. The seed of discontent was sown four years ago. When you push certain players over kids who are just as capable at the time you can't expect any better results! This is coach Johnson's problem now, so I say reap it.

No reason to be insulted. It's not because it is Deming, I am just saying if it were any of the three (Deming, Pendleton, Nicholas) it would be easier to watch them either at home or any of the other 3 schools than to drive all the way to Maysville to watch a game.

Harrison Co. support for players has been dwindling for a few years. But, this year it has really dropped off... Part of it is the inconsistent play of players and just face it, EVERYONE loves a WINNER. Don't expect fans to come out in droves!! Heck, they're too busy tearing apart instead of building people up!

The community as a whole doesn't support basketball either. You should see the facilities that the recreation department uses for youth basketball. What a shame! Shame, Shame, Shame... And I have a young child that will get to use those facilities. I just hope the future of basketball gets better!! Enough said!!

That does sound bad. Every boy and girl should get a nice place to play and improve skills!!
