I try to look at these rankings as just more exposure for the girls across the state, especially players that play for & attend schools that are not considered top tier programs by any means, but have just as much, or in some cases more ability than others that we hear about more often because of their respective programs. Making a "list" may be the only exposure they may see at all! I think the grading scale mentioned by Mr. Underwood is interesting & perhaps something to think about when we all watch players. I think an experiment in the next game I watch may be in order! I will try to think in those terms. Certainly, using that system, stats are not as big a factor, which is what we tend to lean towards when discussing a game. Many times there is a player that doesn't rack up the stats that plays the pivotal role in a contest. Some of the names on this list are players like that on their respective teams. Game changers. They would score well in most of Mr. Underwood's categories. They would also be successful at the next level.

 

No question that I would disagree with the lists, but then I haven't seen all of these girls play either. It is interesting to compare the various rankings though.

I was at a tournament in Louisville last week and talked at length to both Mr. Underwood and Mr. Bolus.

 

Mistakes are made. Notify them and ask they make changes. None of us are perfect.

I noticed that there was a Sarah Anderson from Anderson Co on the list of top seniors. Is this a typo or have I somehow missed hearing about her? I thought Fultz would be their top ranked player.

I see Underwood much more than Bolus at the big events. I can bet you he has seen Notre Dame play. Either way, this is great exposure for all our girls state wide.

Been to a couple of his camps and he does not see half of the players there. It is nothing but a money maker.

 

If you want exposure, just type up a cover letter, player profile, and DVD if you want(not necessary) send it to as many schools as you want, either e-mail or snail mail. You will get a much better response and it will save you a lot of money. Colleges generally do not find you, you have to find them, unless you are a blue chip player. If you are a blue chip player you do not need to attend one of these camps.

Rating kids is based on observations by people. Those people have opinions and thats whats given. Ill bet you can put your opinion up here with a list and get laughed at malachicrunch. I dont understand why everyone is smarter than everyone else and mine is better than yours attitude? Anyway what college are you coaching?

 

I dont agree with all the rankings, but I dont do it for a living and dont have any experience at it. I do think its good PR for the Kentucky kids. I can tell you that most kids are not major D1 players as much as we would like our kids to be. How many of them have competed at a high end exposure tournament on a national level? I am not talking AAU Nationals either, I am talking about the Adidas and Nike exposure tournaments, the big ones. Go there and put up some big numbers consistently and then you have something.

Check out the prestigious few Colleges listed above as their subscribers. As I understand it there are approximately 200 colleges that take the Blue Chip All-Star Report. In addition to that most of the top Sport Publications also receive copies of their complete report with the ratings of where they may be able to play in college effectively. This organization was rated by the WBCA as one of the Top 5 Scouting Services in the Nation and by the College Coaches as the Top Exposure Camps in the Nation. I don't believe many of the College Coaches will be looking at file 13 as you indicate. I am not saying that these are not without flaw, but I am saying that you are very critical of a list that you know very little about.

It wouldn't be the first time a D1 school made a mistake in their recruiting...not saying they did, I'm just saying there's always differences of opinion about the true college potential of different players. And plenty of "can't miss" HS seniors bombed out of college, as you well know.

 

I don't know Mr. Underwood or Mr. Bolus, but I can tell you this: This is a very well-thought of scouting service, regardless of any typos.
