December 20, 200817 yr Johnston was arrested Thursday by troopers serving a search warrant in an undercover drug investigation. A standard news release issued by troopers said Johnston was arrested on six felony counts: second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance — generally manufacturing or delivering drugs — and fourth-degree misconduct involving controlled substances, or possession. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2008541809_palin20.html
December 20, 200817 yr When you choose a life mate you also get their family. In this case that's unfortunate for the Palins.
December 20, 200817 yr When you choose a life mate you also get their family. In this case that's unfortunate for the Palins. Unlike the Kennedy's who keep it in the family. JFK who constanyly cheated on Jackie. Teddy who killed a woman while driving drunk. The Kennedy cousin who was charged with date rape in Florida, but was found innocent. Another Kennedy relative who was found guilty of murder 20-25 years after the crime was committed. The Kennedy who was in Congress and found guilty of driving drunk. And let us not forget Old Joe himself. He taught his boys how to cheat on their wives, ran various illegal activities for big money and was a supporter of A. Hitler. What a family.
December 20, 200817 yr This is the first Presidential election that I have really paid attention. Is it customary for news about the losing VP's daughter's boyfriend's mother to make national headlines? Furthermore, is the customary for things like this to hit the news without hearing a single thing about the winning VP since he was selected?

No, the preemptive strikes on Sara Palin are unprecedented, at least in my lifetime.

You forgot to name Maria Shriver Kennedy Schwarzenegger who enabled the most liberal republican governor in history.
December 20, 200817 yr No, the preemptive strikes on Sara Palin are unprecedented, at least in my lifetime. My memory is foggy but I sure do have the impression that Quayle took a beating once selected.

Do you recall the family or relative of a prospective son-in-law of a losing candidate being targeted to undermine the political career of a losing VP candidate?

Do you recall the family or relative of a prospective son-in-law of a losing candidate being targeted to undermine the political career of a losing VP candidate? I think you and I can agree that Palin was unique. I don't ever remember a VP candidate overshadowing the party nominee. As soon as the country got excited about her, she was THE news story.

As soon as the country got excited about her, she was THE news story. What was unique about this election was the brazen partisanship displayed by the mainstream media. All pretense of objective reporting was discarded. Unfortunately, the media has also decided to start the 2012 Obama reelection campaign four years early. BTW, you did not answer my question. Do you recall similar politically-motivated media attacks on any previous losing VP candidate's family or friends after the election?
December 20, 200817 yr Palin and her family should be left alone now. This would probably still be news in Alaska, given Palin is still the governor there. However, it's not a national headline, IMO. From a human-interest perspective, I do hope the Palin family, and Bristol in particular, can have a positive influence on Levi.

You can't ignore the fact that Palin overshadowed the nominee for President. Has that ever happened? 2. To answer your question, no. See #1.
