Beechwood 68 Conner 61

I did too. Who were the scorers for both teams? I'd assume Beauttells [i can never spell his name I'm sorry!] and Romes.

This was a fun game to watch. I'd be curious to hear how many points BW scored off of breakouts. Romes had at least 27 points and I can only remember one or two baskets that were not breakouts or drives to the hoop. BW is very athletic and the 5 or 6 boys that play can all play. Smith is a strong addition in the middle.

Conner will have games like this with so many young players. I'd guess it will be a good lesson and when Coach Hicks says "get back" they'll now know why. The Hodges kid and Robinson kid, both SOPH big men, look good and will have a chance to be very good in two years.

Gongrats to BW

The Tigers are on a role heading into the AIT!!!! Good luck to the tigers!

Congrats to the Tigers. Always good to see the small schools knock off the big ones.

Saw almost all on of his points on break outs, and Beuttel is very overrated IMO. Connor didn't look like they came to play.

I'm sure that had something to do with Beechwood. I tried telling everyone... Beechwood is pretty solid this year and IMO will be the #2 seed in the 35th.

Beechwood (4-1) - Beuttel 2 2 4, Pohlgeers 2 0 5, Smith 4 3 11, Snyder 4 0 8, Romes 12 8 34, Hall 3 0 7. Totals: 27 12 68.

Conner (3-2) - Stephens 3 1 7, Avery 5 1 11, Broyles 2 2 4, C. Lang 9 1 23, Hodges 1 0 2, T. Lang 1 0 3, Liechty 3 4 10, Robinson 2 1 3. Totals: 23 10 61.

Beechwood 16 15 15 22 -68

Conner 16 7 20 18 -61

3-pointers: B 3 (Hall 1, Pohlgeers 1, Romes 1); C 5 (C. Lang 4, T. Lang 1).

I agree with EtaRoh I think Beechwood will get to the Regional tourney this year if they can avoid Holmes in 1st round of Districts. Romes sounds like a real player dropping 34 on the Cougars.

Romes dropped 34...you can't be serious and say almost all his point came on break outs. If so, Conner is horrible in transition defense.

Hulk needs some Hatorade. LOL

Should Romes' have pulled up from 10 feet to shoot it off the glass or take it in for the easy duece? Hmmmmmmm lets see.

While the Hulk obviously has a burr in his saddle about BW he is correct that a large number of his points came on breakouts. Conner's transition D was bad as Coach Hicks alluded to in the paper. Credit Romes for being fast and athletic. A lot of his layups were contested but he still finished.

As Eta said, BW has a legit shot at the #2 seed. I'd think they would be the lead horse for that spot today.
