Will Wonders Never Cease !!

In an article in this mornings Enquirer it is revealed that NCCs current run of success that started in 2001 is based on the spread offense . Where did they get the original plays to impliment this offense ? From Dale Mueller and a Highlands playbook that was leant to NCC's coaching staff for an All star game in 1998 where Jared Lorenzen was to be the Q-back and the team was coached by the NCC coaching staff. Now that is what I call generousity .http://nky.cincinnati.com/article/AB/20081210/SPT030201/312100011/-1/SPT&referrer=NEWSFRONTCAROUSEL Thanks Dale !! Who says an old dog can't learn new tricks !

I for one hope that they will start playing each other again in the near future .

In other words, "We don't want play you because you score too many points. Oh, can we use that offense that scored all of those points?"

I think that having Keith Faust and Eddie Eviston, two former college QBs has helped develop the other 5% and probably thensome. Coach Dave Schneider has always been very progressive about new ideas. He'd be a great coordinator to work for b/c he listens and is always looking for fresh ideas. I know that a few Highlands parents who originated from NewCath and hadn't been to a NewCath game in awhile were shocked at the change.

I don't think getting crushed two years in a row was the main reason. My senior year, Lorenzon's Jr. year we got crushed b/c we weren't a very good team. The year after they were worse and Highlands had one of their very best teams. I think, now, that the games would be pretty competitive with Highlands winning 8 out 10.

There has to be something else to it. I know that a lot of people say that a NewCath loss will hurt their Ft. Thomas pipeline, but I don't see that as true. People send their kids to NewCath over Highlands for the Catholic education. If it was for football, Ft. Thomas kids wouldn't leave Highlands.

The only people who truly know are the ADs (Mueller and Detzel) for both schools and Mr. Schneider.

I think it comes down to bad blood from the two big losses, but I agree completely with what you said about kids going to NC for the catholic education. This series needs to be revived. CovCath/Highlands is a great rivalry, but NewCath/Highlands was the best in my mind. I'm sure it's been watered down some by the classification difference and the emergence of other rivalries, but it would still be something special.
