FLEMINGSBURG -- The Ashland Tomcats converted 19 of 24 free throws in the second half and spoiled Fleming County's home opener, holding off the Panthers for a 65-59 win. With the victory in the Den on Friday, Ashland improved to 2-0 and Fleming suffered its second loss without a win.

 

The teams played evenly most of the evening and were knotted 26-26 at the half, one of six ties during the game, which also featured seven lead changes.

Fleming had their chances to pull out the W, just couldn't execute in the final 3-4 minutes.

It would help if the boys were more mentally tough. They need to think they can win.

Fleming has big strong team and should do well this year.Ashland just came on when they needed to and was able to pull this win out.
