"Ricky is grateful to be recognized as the greatest baseball player ever, although Ricky has deserved that because, well, Ricky is the greatest baseball player ever!" Ugh. Anyway. Henderson will get in. I think Rice should be inducted, although I am somewhat biased. Bert Blyleven and Andre Dawson should also get in.

December 2, 200817 yr Before Manny was just being Manny, Ricky was just being Ricky. I get more irritated with HOF voting than anything on the face of the Earth. Baseball probably a little more than most sports because you can turn everything in to an argument as to why someone should and should not be in the Hall of Fame by simply citing numbers. My criteria for a 1st Ballot HOFer: 1) When you say the name, does it say Hall of Famer. Babe Ruth, YES. Willie Mays, YES. Roger Clemens, YES. Mariano Rivera, YES. Paul O'Neil, NO. Mike Mussina, NO. Craig Biggio, NO. Jay Bell, David Cone, Ron Gant, Mark Grace, Jesse Orosco, Dan Plesac, Greg Vaughn, Mo Vaughn and Matt Williams... NO. If you have to make an argument for a guy they are not in on the first ballot. After 1st ballot... 2) Were they a trandscendent type player or dominate an era. 3) If you have to cite more than 2 stats to make a case, they should not be in the HOF.

He was the very definition of a lead off hitter. If you put just the numbers out there with no name beside it, how could anyone vote against what he accomplished?

He either is or he isn't. Either Ricky is a HOF'er or he isn't. I think he is, but I don't think he should have 16 chances to get in. We're talking the Baseball Hall of Fame here. Not the trophy case at your local high school.

I agree and honestly would have thought, Rice would have made 2nd-3rd ballot. Really surprises me he hasn't and not sure, he will get in via the voting.
