I dont know the rest of the names but I remember a few. I'm not for sure the fifth starter and I think I got these four right. I beleive they are all 10 and 11 graders. Correct me if Im wrong.

 

Story was likely one of the starters. His older brother, Michael, was a stand out player for Boone a few years ago.

Cooper High School will have to wait for another night to get its first boys varsity basketball victory.

 

Walton-Verona spoiled the inaugural game of the Cooper program, beating the Jaguars 46-37 Monday night at Walton-Verona. Sophomore guard Vance Sullivan and junior forward Cameron Burns each scored 12 points for Walton-Verona. All of Sullivan's points came on 3-point field goals, including the first points of the game to give the Bearcats a lead they never relinquished.

I saw some familiar names from the past in that boxscore. I know Sullivan is Danny's son and Bowlin is Kerry's boy. What about Poore, Ponzer and Burns? I played against a slew of Poore's back in the late 80's (Trent, Darren, Brant). Is this one of their boys? Also wasnt there a huge guy named Andy Burns who played with Benton on that team that made it to the Regional finals back in the early 80's?

Zach Poore is playing now. He's Greg Poore's son and Trent, Darren and Brant's cousin. Greg played in the early 80's.

Scott Benton played with head WV coach Kyle Bennett on the 86 team that went to the regional finals and lost to Highlands.
