I don't want to start yet another grass vs. turf war...but I think the traction on artificial surfaces is often too good. The give in sod or the slip/slide on frozen or muddy ground can be a knee saver (even if it's tough on tailbones).

I spend 5 hrs. today in a medical center today to have my son's knee repaired. You may feel that the way this player attacked my son's knee was not dirty but why would you go for the knee's???This player had a chance to make a bone jarring hit but he choose to go low! The only reason I'm replying to this is that I'm hoping that some coach or player see's what happen's when you perform this type of tackle. I'm trying to prevent this from happening again. We have rules for chop block's on def. linemen, We have rules for no blocking below the waist down field, We need to have some type of rule for this type tackle.

You can say the same for the horsecollar tackle. It is illegal in the Pro's but ok in High School.:creepy:

You may feel that this tackle was not dirty but this same player was called for unsportsmenlike penalty for speering the extra point holder for Highland's a few minutes later.( I was just told this)He made no attempt to block the kick. Coach and player were both talked to after this play by the referee!

The one on the extra point holder was alot more obvious and the player should have been ejected at that point.

Actually, the kid who made the tackle needs to be taught to keep his head up. If he goes in low with his head down he is risking serious injury to his neck and back. All it takes is one knee or thigh hitting him with his head lowered like that.

Complete tear of ACL, MCL, and a tear of the lateral meniscus(sp). Should be able to play football next year.

You have to be beat...GO to bed! I did a long time ago but couldn't sleep so here I am.

Roller is a good player, I wish him nothing but the best but I don't think this was a dirty hit. Football is a game of speed and changing of direction, the one thing I can tell you from experience is during a play you never truely decide how to tackle someone unless your joining a gang tackle, especially on a play like this, full speed, full motion. It is just pure instinct.
