Beechwood and Highlands on the road ?

Featured Replies

I know Beechwood and Highlands both have to travel this week (10/28). If they both win, will they both have to travel for the semi-finals?

If Beechwood wins they are home for the semi's.

If Highlands wins the will travel for the Semi's,

Both teams will travel. The semi-state round home team is determined by your region (not district). In even years, the team in the even region hosts. Beechwood and Highlands are both in Region 1 (odd number). It is 2008 so the even number regions are the hosts this year. They both will travel if they win.

If Highlands wins they will travel for the Semi's,

The rematch is at Whitley County

If Beechwood wins they are home for the semi's.

:thumb: Because Beechwood is in Region 2, so they would be at home.

If Highlands wins the will travel for the Semi's,

Sorry about that. I used the Scoreboard on BGP to pull the region numbers and it had Beechwood and Highlands listed as Region 1. But I went back to double check and it looks like all teams are listed as Region 1 on the scoreboard. It is the even regions hosting so if you are right about your regions, then Beechwood (2) is home and Highlands (3) travels. Beechwood fans will be glad to hear they won't be driving 4 hours plus, including at night on the Western Ky. Pkwy., if they are fortunate enough to beat Frankfort.

Might be putting a lot miles in over the next THREE weeks. :sssh::walk:

I noticed that too and that is confusing.

Hope this helps clear it up

Look at this link of the current alignment. Beechwood is in 1A, District 3. Highlands is in 5A, District 5.

In 1A through 5A (6A is different), the regions are aligned like this:

Region 1 = Districts 1 & 2

Region 2 = Districts 3 & 4

Region 3 = Districts 5 & 6

Region 4 = Districts 7 & 8

The KHSAA Playoff Pairings illustrate this further.

This doesn't bother the players though as they are on Charter busses. A trip this week to Johnsonville then next week to Whitley/Letcher and then to Louisville could be misserable on a school bus but if your traveling for this reason i really wouldn't care to walk.

Highlands takes charter buses to Holmes which is 4 miles away. :D:sssh:

I can't even remember the last time they rode on a regular school bus. I don't think they ever have since Dale's been there.

Thanks. The alignment link didn't seem to list regions but the playoff pairings link showed them if you look closely at the left column. Thanks for the clarification.

I never really understood that. Whats the point of taking charter busses to local games? I understand for long trips but why take them to close games?

Ft Thomas only has 1 1/2 school busses. They would have to charter yellow busses anyway, so might as well go first class.

Highlands doesn't have buses to take.
