I hate to say it, but I noticed similar weak turnout in both my visits to D'ville last year, and that was very different from just a few years prior.

And the Green County folks were really loud.

 

AA, wish I had talked to you before the game. I like meeting BGPers; it would have been nice to meet you. I was halfway up the home bleachers, right on the 50-yard line.

 

You were probably about two rows away from him ...

Looks like a very good game

Good game by Green, and a not so great game by Danville. Good win by Green... Should be a dandy in Monroe Friday night!

If you want to see two towns turn out for a football game it will be Monroe and Green Friday night. Monroe has a good stadium but I feel it will be standing room only! Congrats to the Dragons, we are looking forward to hosting you next week!

Let's look at Danville's losses:

 

Boyle 43-6 (let's face it, Boyle is a better team this season - still, Danville was in the game in the first half and made a couple of huge mistakes in the 2nd half that allowed it to get out of control)

 

GRC 33-30 (3-point loss to a 6A school in OT. Danville gave up a crucial TO late in the game, which allowed it to go into OT. Then, they opted to kick a FG even though their defense hadn't stopped GRC all night. GRC got their turn in OT and just drove it into the endzone for the win)

 

Frankfort 35-31 (Danville has the game won and then gives up some unexplainable big plays with only seconds remaining to give the game away)

 

Green County 28-21 (Very competitive game but Danville with more key mistakes. They are driving in the red zone and fumble with about 2:00 minutes remaining to give up their chance to tie or win the game)

 

So, they are 4-5 mistakes away from being 11-1 and heading to the next round of the playoffs. There is alot of talent on this Danville team. They are a little undersized, but they still have alot of talented players. Their season was ruined by crucial turnovers and penalties at the most inopportune times.

Tough loss Admirals, turnovers too have been a major obstacle of Mayfield football this year, so we feel your pain. Good win Green County, is this the first time Green has ever beaten Danville? Good luck next season Danville, I believe I heard early on in the season that this was a very young team, so do you guys have a lot returning next season?

This was only the third meeting between the two squads. Danville still holds the edge 2-1. However, last nights win sends Class AA a statement that Green County is a program on the rise. Great win and great game for both teams. Good luck in the future to all the Admiral seniors ! :thumb:

I agree Danville has made some bad turn overs, but their defense has been weak all year compared to Admiral standards. Normally if Danville was having trouble scoring they could count on the defense to keep the game under control. In the past if they had a crucial turnover the defense could come in and keep the other team from scoring. The Admiral offense was good this year, if that had been backed up with the Danville defense of years past we would be talking State Title this year. I hope they can get it figured out for next year.:irked:
