I believe stats can be a little misleading, although I don't know the caliber of teams Ft. Campbell has played this year but would hard pressed to say that there schedule was better than NCC.

Last they did have a tough schedule and I am not taking anything away from Ft. Campbell last year they deserve to win, NCC did not play very well in that game and shot themselves in the foot to many times. Both are very good and if they play each other again it should be a great game.

No doubt the 'Breds are solid! My posting was in response to the comment regarding NCC repeating this year just like last year. Had to point out that NCC isn't the defending champ and when they did win their most recent title in '06 they were a 1A team.

Should Fort Campbell be fortunate enough to play in the title game, you will see a team that is different from last year's squad. They are the fastest, most explosive offensive team in 2A - not just a couple of players, but a host of players. (541 points scored, the most in 2A) On Defense, they have given up a measly 89 points through 12 games, a considerable portion of them allowed by the JV team. (Least amount of points given up in 2A)

Fort Campbell has not lost to a 2A team since the playoffs in November 2006 to Trigg County. (Two years - no 2A losses)

 

I'm sure Ft. Campbell's defense is very good giving up only 89 pts., but they haven't played the schedule NCC has with four 6A teams, a 5A and Beechwood on their schedule.

I agree with NKU above me, so FC scores alotta points..who have they played? NCC's schedule is way way more challenging than FC's.

You are beating a dead horse on strength of schedule; I agree with you! FC is in a District which includes Todd County, Hancock County and they can't change that. Because of tradition, FC will not break free of the Army Bowl with Ft. Knox, which is easier than a practice scrimmage. Paducah Tilghman and Mayfield both were ranked high in the early polls, but failed to perform on the field.

 

Nobody in Western KY has had more postings on BGP about FC increasing their strength of schedule than me. The schedule will improve starting next season. I believe we will have Hopkinsville, a big school from Evansville, IN and Kenwood from Clarksville, TN and possibly a school from Nashville, TN.

 

That being said, for anybody to under estimate Fort Campbell's championship caliber football program two years in a row would be sheer folly. History does have the capability of repeating itself.

Let me as this question......is it possible for FC to move up to 3A if they win another State Championship. I "heard" that's why NCC moved from 1A to 2A.

You heard wrong. NewCath is 2A by enrollment. Also, when they left, they left as the 2 time defending state champs, so 1A was working out ok for them.

Thanks. I thought that was the case......and the two-time defending state champs thing is the very same thing that the person I heard it from was alluding to. If FC wins again this year, they'll be in the same boat (two-time defending state champ) that NCC was in a few years ago.

The alignment issue is going to be one to watch.

 

Mcracken County schools are likely to consolidate Lone Oak, Heath, and Reidland. The new school would likely take Lone Oak's spot in 4A. That leaves two schools to replace in the 2A District 1 side. Since it is already a five team district, they would only need one more team.

 

Does the KHSAA move FC into a district with Trigg, Caldwell, and Murray? Does the KHSAA move Todd County into that district?

 

With the Muhlenberg schools likely to merge, Muhlenberg South would be no more in their 3A district, meaning that it would be unlikely that anyone would drop from 3A to 2A, although Webster County would be the best bet.

 

With the mergings expected to happen soon, look for some major shakeups for the 2011-12 alignments.

NCC, could still be a 1A team they had the choice to move up or stay down as did Highlands they are playing above there class also.
