^That's one intriguing scenario....Oregon State wins out and takes the Pac-10, and Penn State wins out and takes the Big Ten, we get a rematch of a Penn State blowout win....I'd be willing to bet the outcome would be different the second time around.

I disagree with the 2nd part....I think in most years, you'd be right, but this year I think Utah and Boise could go through either conference....We'll probably get to see soon enough though, as I'd imagine one of those conference winners will be paired up against either Boise or Utah.

But that is still not what he said. He wanted to see them play in the confrence. Quality teams week in week out. Playing a single bowl game against the top team in the confrence with a month to prepare is not the same as being in the confrence. Bottom line is that Bosie & Utah only have to bring their A game 1 or 2 times a year and then once they are in bowl games everything is on their side. If they win like Bosie did a few years ago it is an upset that shocks the world. If they get a taste of what Hawaii got last year then everyone acts like it is no big deal. None of the teams mentioned could win consistently in average confrences (ACC, Big East, Pac 10, or Big 10) or even compete for championships in the elite confrences (SEC & Big XII).

Didn't Utah beat Pittsburgh in like the Fiesta bowl? I am thinking that was the case, if so you got 1 month to prepare, Urban Meyer vs. Dave Wandstat, easy call looking back.

3. The champion of Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference or the Western Athletic Conference will earn an automatic berth in a BCS bowl game if either:

A. Such team is ranked in the top 12 of the final BCS Standings, or,

B. Such team is ranked in the top 16 of the final BCS Standings and its ranking in the final BCS Standings is higher than that of a champion of a conference that has an annual automatic berth in one of the BCS bowls.

No more than one such team from Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, and the Western Athletic Conference shall earn an automatic berth in any year. (Note: a second team may be eligible for at-large eligibility as noted below.) If two or more teams from those conferences satisfy the provisions for an automatic berth, then the team with the highest finish in the final BCS Standings will receive the automatic berth, and the remaining team or teams will be considered for at-large selection if it meets the criteria.

This could get really interesting.

Let's assume Oregon St, Boise St, and Utah win out.

That would give us 7 teams with Automatic berths. I'm just throwing names in here I'm not making a prediction.

SEC Champ - Florida

Big 12 Champ - Texas Tech

Big East Champ - Cinci

ACC Champ - Maryland

Big 10 Champ -Penn St

PAC 10 - Oregon St

Mountain West - Utah

3 at large bids. I think the SEC and Big 12 will get 2 in.

1 - Alabama

2 - Texas

3 - This spot will be between USC and Boise St. I think there will be a big media push for Boise. So it is very possible that USC could be #5 or #6 and not get in a BCS bowl.

Well that's just dumb....No way should teams from those conferences be in over the likes of a Utah, Boise State, or even BYU this year.

There is a reason why the Big East and ACC are called "BCS" confrences.

Just like Boise State two years ago didn't belong right? Or Utah a couple years before that?

Utah beat a Pitt team that basically won the Big East by default. I believe that was the first year that Miami and VT were gone. The BE was horrilbe that year.

Boise had to play a flawless game and even then it took OT and a hand full of trick plays to pull out an upset of OU.

You say it was obvious that Hawaii didn't belong last year but did you think that before they got their butts handed to them? If so then what makes Boise and Utah any different this year? Why does Ball St not belong in the discussion? Undefeated isn't everything.

100% false. The Big 6 are locks...

correct, didn't this happen with BYU a few years ago?

I think the SEC will have a team in the BCS National Championship Game but I just have a feeling that the other SEC team in the BCS will be paired up and have a bout with none other than USC.....mark it down.

I'd say it would be a very different outcome, especially with the game being on the West Coast if it were to be played.

In 2001 they were doing a good deal of crying about not getting respect when they were 12-0 then they go on to get waxed by Hawaii then Louisville beat them in a bowl game. A good example of a team that played no one and had an inflated 11-0 record, they then go on to barely beat Ole Miss to go 12-0, they start belly aching and get killed.

Exactly. For those who think the Big East doesn't deserve a BCS automatic bid, here's a stat:

6-2 since 2000 in their BCS games.

(One loss by Miami to Ohio St in the NC in double OT and the other by Pitt to Utah)

So what happens if Boise State and Utah both finish the season undefeated? Do both get into the BCS?

Also if Oregon State wins out, the Pac10, SEC, & Big 12 would all have 2 teams make the BCS....So, if both those teams are undefeated, is there anyway that one of them could get in over the conference champion from one of the terrible conferences like the BEast or ACC?

There is not a top 10 caliber team in either of those conferences...With that being said, neither really deserves to play in one of those games.

And you say that why?
