That was the first Beechwood game I went to all year. I did watch them on tv against Cov Cath. Anyway I thought both of them were evenly matched. New Cath just made the big plays to win. Back to this game Beechwood wins handily.

Five turnovers and two long punt returns that put 10 points on the board will beat anyone. Beechwood does that against any good team and it will be tough to win. That is how they can get beat, just like against NCC. But not this week. Beechwood wins by at least 4 TD's and moves on to a very difficult matchup against Frankfort.

Beechwood aged Ludlow. Beechwood should win this by 5 or 6 touchdowns.

Beechwood beat Ludlow 61-6 first go around. I expect a similar score this time as well.

 

1999 the last time Ludlow made the 2nd round of the playoffs they played Beechwood. During the regular season game Ludlow lost 62-0 to Beechwood. In the playoff game Ludlow gave Beechwood a scare for their life, in the closest game they had in the playoffs that year. It was tied 0 to 0 with only 9 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Ludlow who only had about 20 kids on the team and 15 who really played, finally wore down and started to make mistakes.

 

My point to this was anything is possible in the playoffs. Is it a long shot DEFINITELY. But Ludlow has shown it is capable of putting themselves in position to win, even after getting killed in the regular season.

Are you sure you are thinking about the same year? Cause Im pretty positive, that year no one came close after that to beating them in the playoffs.You sure that is not 1998 that your thinking of?

FC The 1998 Beechwood team your talking about was undefeated going into the playoffs. They had won 37 or 38 straight games in a row. They went down to Middlesboro to play in the semis. The Jackets beat them 29-13 to end the Tigers streak of 7 straight state title appearances. Middlesboro then went on to beat Mayfield in the finals. The Jackets beat Beechwood and Mayfield 2 undefeated teams back to back. I think the score was 21-7. I know I'm close about the score. The Jackets had a mlb named Floyd Branham. I have never ever seen someone dominate a game like he did against the Cards that day.

 

If you remember 1999 was the year Bellevue beat Beechwood in the regular season 17-0. Beechwood beat Bellevue 35-0 in the regional final at Bellevue. Pikeville came up here in the semis. That is when the Tigers made their comeback. The following game in the finals is where they beat Hancock County with Travis Atwell as their QB 45-26. That was the year the Tigers won their 7th title in the 90's.

 

The game your talking about against Ludlow where Beechwood beat them 20-0 is 1997. I'm pretty sure it was. Beechwood was a 1 seed and Ludlow was a 3 seed. I remember that game because it was played on a Saturday afternoon. It was cold with snow flurries. The field was wet with very muddy conditions . Ludlow played with a lot of heart that day when the game was scoreless at the half. Was this the year the Panthers had a very good QB named Mike Lewis? The Tigers didn't have any trouble with Bath County and Middlesboro. They beat Harrodsburg 26-0 to win the state title. It was scoreless at the half. That game was the coldest state game I have ever been to with the snow and the wind. The 97 team is the team a lot of people think is the best Beechwood team ever to play.

 

I know that the Panthers will play hard but I just don't see them playing with the Tigers.
