What seeds were these two?

Tough loss for the Raiders, but on the bright side they started a lot of underclassmen at key positions this year. I think they may have a cycle coming through similar to the one when Gray, Murray, Morgan, Luster, and co. were there.

I can see that Eto, some young talent in Union.

Dang, if Ryle would have beat Henry clay NKY 6A would have swept LEX 6A.

Not bad since we are the whipping boy for NKY. I see good things ahead for NKY 6A. Should be a very competitive from 1-6 in a few years once Cooper gets established. I know that beating the top Louiville schools is still a reach but Dixie did it, so why not us?

How did Hempel look tonight? Great experience for a sophmore QB.

Conner Hempel is a good looking sophomore quarterback. The kid has good size and the tools to play the position. I can't tell you he looked like an all-Pro because he did not. He did show signs throughout the game that he is going to be an excellent quarterback in the future for the Ryle Raiders.

Congrats to Henry Clay and congrats to the Raiders on a good season. Kind of a "close but no cigar" type season for the Raiders, who just seemed to come up a little short in a few games this year.

This game was closer than the score indicates. It was a tight, tense ballgame up until the last seconds of the third quarter when HC scored on a nice halfback option pass to go up 18-7. I thought Ryle's defense played extremely well throughout this game, especially given they were on the field for probably 35 of the game's 48 minutes and HC constantly had starting field position deep inside Ryle territory. Ryle's offense just couldn't generate much of anything against a stout HC defense. I would doubt whether they had 100 yards total offense for the game and also had 3 or 4 turnovers. Ryle also caught an bad break in the first quarter when their punt returner fumbled after getting run into by a HC defender while making a fair catch and the refs made no call. HC recovered around the 10 yard line and went in for the game's first score. But HC was clearly the better team last night.

Ryle loses a lot of talent on defense that they'll need to replace next year and needs to get a little bigger on both sides of the line. But the offense should be much improved and more consistent and 2010 should be a solid year for the Raiders.

Ryle is going to be a solid team down the road they are real young.

What about 2009???

Actually, I meant 2009 in my prior post. I guess I lost a year somewhere. :creepy:

Ryle's defense put up a very gutsy fight against Henry Clay. I don't know what the play-count was, but it must have been 3 HC offensive plays for every 1 for Ryle. It also had to be 3-1 on fumble recoveries -- maybe 9 - 1! HC did most of the fumbling at first but Ryle couldn't find the handle. Then when Ryle fumbled, HC found most of those too. It was that way all night! It would not have been a good night for a Ryle fan to go to a casino. HC defied the odds.

Ryle returns loaded with talented skill-position underclassmen. They just need to develop a couple of fresh O-linemen from a good group of Sophomores that were walking around wounded much of the year. They should be able to put up a lot of points.

Defensively they'll need to focus on rebuilding the linebacker corp, finding an additional D-back and developing a couple of stout D-linemen.
