Don't you just wish that HHS and St X could play this year? Man that would be a fun game to go to.

I would be interested in seing that game this year because I think this Highlands team is one of the best teams they have ever had. I would guess St. X handles them without a lot of trouble - say 35-14. But if there was a Highlands team that just might be able to pull an upset, this would be it.

 

Why does everyone give Manual so much credit/respect in the polls? They have only outscored their opponents by 25 points for the season. Going by the scores, they don't even look like they should be in the top 10.

They went 8-2 against one of the toughest schedules in the state, and they've beaten three teams that are ranked in BGP's top 10s ... Central, Ballard and Male.

 

Take away the 57-0 loss to St. Xavier and the point differential looks quite a bit better.

They lost to a team with 5 losses (Ballard) and went into double OT against a 5-5 class 4A team (Bullitt East) team before winning. I like the tough schedule but those are two bad games in addition to the whomping by St. X. As a 6A school, they may be top 10 worthy but they appear to be getting too much credit to me. Is there another team in the top 10 lists above that has lost to a 5 loss team and almost lost to another one?

Really good teams, playing a very tough schedule, just find a way to win even on off nights. That is exactly what Manual has done to get to 8-2. They have done this too many times this year for it to be a one or two game fluke. For this reason, they rightfully deserve the high respect which most voters have accorded them in this thread.

Some observations:

-Only 5 teams appear on every ballot: St. X, Trinity, Highlands, Boyle County, Bell County.

-Only 8 teams appear on more than half of the ballots: The above teams, Manual, Central, and Belfry.

-The first four voters all rated Highlands second. Since then, only one voter has.

-Two voters did not rank Manual. Of those that did, they are rated no lower than 8th. Bell County, a team on every ballot, was rated ninth on one.

-Four of the first five voters rated Bowling Green in the top ten. Since then, only one voter has. Additionally, Bowling Green only appears on 5 ballots, but ranks in the top 5 because of two votes placing them 5th, while no other vote has them higher than 9th. If you can tell by now that I don't think BG belongs in the top 10, you win.

-Doss has the highest rating of any team only present on one ballot (whoops for me)

 

Ranges (First number highest rank, second number lowest):

St. X - 1:1

Trinity - 2:3

Highlands - 2:3

Boyle County - 4:6

Bell County - 4:9

 

The next are highest ranking for each team as their lowest rank was not being ranked at all.
