November 9, 200817 yr WGRR (103.5) is now airing classic broadcasts of Casey Kasem's AT 40 from 7-10 on Sunday mornings. I used to listen to Casey's countdown almost every week during my teenage years. This week's show was from November 14, 1970. 1I'll Be There-The Jackson 5 (5th week in the top spot) 2.We've Only Just Begun-The Carpenters 3.Fire And Rain-James Taylor 4.I Think I Love You-The Partridge Family 5.Indiana Wants Me-R. Dean Taylor 6.Green Eyed Lady-Sugarloaf (the first 45 I ever purchased at age 11) As Casey would say at the conclusion of each show, "keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars".
November 9, 200817 yr Oh, I miss those songs....that was real music! I used to listen to the countdown every week!
November 9, 200817 yr I used to listen to Casey's countdown evey week. I remember all of those songs. The Carpenters were one of my favorites, I still think that Karen Carpenter along with Olivia Newton John were two of the most pure female voices that I have ever heard. Both were great. Being a child of the 70's I can remember many songs and artist from that decade. (and then there are some things from those years that I can't remember:eek:)
November 10, 200817 yr Author The first countdown I remember listening to was just after Christmas 1973. Jim Croce's "Time In A Bottle" was #1.
November 10, 200817 yr Miss the countdown. I miss the Midnight Special and ABC's In Concert as well. I remember a Midnight Special with Foghat and the Mark-Almond band (remember 'the City'?) and my alltime favorite In Concert with Grand Funk Railroad opening up with Footstompin' Music....those were the days....(by the way...nice avatar,Mack..lol!!!)
