So....The Cougars get to host a playoff game! Not sure if anyone shares my enthusiasm, but this is AWESOME for these Cougars! Congratulations to Coach Smart and the all the staff and players of this team!

 

Now....let's talk about the upcoming game. Grayson County is a young team...very young. I know nothing of Hopkinsville. How do you guys see this game shaping up?

Should be a good game. Its been long time since Hoptown has seen a true veer option team. Midline, inside and outside veer with multiple formations... pretty neat stuff.

Hopkinsville will have to be more disciplined that WC was a few weeks ago when Grayson pulled off the win that gave them the 2 seed in the district and this 1st round game at home. However, I think the Tigers will win this won going away.

I would love to go with Grayson because of their big upset of my Dragons a few weeks back. But, realistically I will pick Hopkinsville 42-12

Don't think I would call the 1995 Gator win an 'upset.' That WC team finished 2-8 and was probably the worst team WC has had since 84. That WC team also lost to Warren East, who only finished with 2 or 3 wins in 1995.

 

Congrats to Coach Smart, though. He has done a commendable job.

EXTREMELY competitive game in '95, though. WC played with GREAT pride vying to avoid losing to the upstart Gator...agreed? ...and the kickoff game plan that Coach Hood used that year,...I don't know that it's ever been matched. And since you are an historian of WC football...how are Coaches Hood, Wood and Norm doing???

Yeah, basically what iron dragon said. That Warren Central team was the only one to ever lose to all three local schools in the same year, though this team could maybe have given it a run.

Yeah, I'm kind of glad this team didn't play East this year. However, I think we are playing them in week 2 next season. WC is probably a few years away from getting back to their old selves.

There is no doubt that Coach Smart has done a fabulous job at Grayson.

 

As has been said by 2 other posters, that 95 WC team was probably the worst in the last 20-25 years. The term upset is probably a little strong.

I am definitely not a historian on WC football. There are just some years that standout more than others and the 95 season does in a negative way.

 

However, you seem like an encyclopedia on Greenwood football and will have to jog my memory on the kickoffs in the 95 game.
