Mason Co 23 Greenup Co 0

Featured Replies

Several missed opportunities for both teams tonight; Royals and Musketeers will need to do a better job of finishing drives and eliminating penalties to make some noise in the playoffs.

I thought that Greenup played much better after falling behind by a couple of scores; but Mason's defense stepped up every time it needed to. A couple of good stands late in the game to preserve the shutout.

On to the post-season, and congratulations to the Royals on the win!

Magoffin County.

Any information on Magoffin?

Congrats to the Royals on the win and shutout. :thumb:

According to the KHSAA, Magoffin Co has given up 40 points or more in all 5 of their losses. Allen Central, Pike County Central, Sheldon Clark, Belfry and Estill County.

Good luck Mason

Who does Greenup get in the 1st round? Rockcastle Co.?
Yep:eek:

Any stats? How was GC's running game? Did they continue the trend of moving the ball up and down the field and then stalling in the red zone?

It was not my impression that the Musketeers ran the ball up and down the field. They only had something like 260 total yards for the game, and 100 of them were passing yards. The majority of their running plays were sending Lyle up the middle, and he averaged three and a half yards a carry.

Rushing: GC - Craft 10-81, Lyle 16-56, Rister 3-18, Smith 2-4, Dillow 1-1. MC - Thompson 22-163, Pawsat 6-37, Huron 6-37, Breckenridge 1-17.

Passing: GC - Craft 9-15-1-60, Rister 5-9-0-40. MC - Pawsat 10-19-1-165.

Receiving: GC - Berry 4-41, Smith 6-32, Hannah 3-26, Lyle 1-0. MC - Gilbert 2-74, Breckenridge 5-61, Stahl 1-21, Thompson 1-5, Lang 1-4.

Thanks Papa. Looks like Craft had a nice game rushing. Why was Rister in at QB, did Craft get hurt?

I think Rister was in late in the game after the outcome was decided - maybe the last couple of series.

He actually did pretty well in his limited time. Mason was coming with the blitz on most of his passing attempts in an effort to preserve the shutout, and he was able to connect on 5 of 9.

I think he is going to be a great QB for the next couple of years. He and Lyle both being sophs this year, makes me really expect better things in the future for the Muskies.
