I can think of atleast 2 teams who's starting line ups match up with SC's. :sssh:

 

As far as them falling flat on their face I doubt very seriously that happens, but I do think SC will lose more games than some of the SC faithful think.

 

I want to know who has a better starting lineup. I have never said they would go undefeated or anything close. I believe most knowledgeable fans expect a few losses. However I see no teams that they play besides Duncanville that Scott will be the underdog. Scott County was a top four team all last year and I dont think anybody will argue that this team is better than last.

 

How many losses do you see Scott Co. having? And how about your Holmes team do you expect them to go undefeated?

Records can be deceiving, especially at the high school level. Losses are dictated by the strength of a schedule or how many top rated opponants a team plays. There could be a 10-loss team that has played a loaded schedule that I would still say are better than an undefeated team playing zero ranked opponants or a soft schedule and going undefeated.

 

Question, if a team plays a soft schedule and loses just 2 or 3 games all against top 20 teams, but wins against non-top 40 during the rest of their schedule, do you rank them with a 30 - 3 record over a team that went 20 - 10 and played 15 top 20 teams?

 

Ranking teams is a tough proposition.

Knowing Scott Co seems to always have talent, that's why I'm even happier that Mason Co got their 2nd state title last year. You knew it was going to be "a tad" difficult to compete with the Cardinals this year.

 

The 11th Region is always brutal though and Scott Co always plays a tough schedule, will be interesting to see how it plays out.

 

I do agree that National Rankings, especially pre-season, on high school basketball are ridiculous.

Too early to tell about the chemistry, but this team seems more talented than the 2006 State Champs who didn't lose. I heard they had some close games in the summer, but did they lose any of those? It will definately be an upset if they lose a game to a kentucky team. Of course not many teams go thur the year without being upset.

No team in the state has better INDIVIDUAL talent in their starting 5 at ALL FIVE starting positions but there are teams in the state who has 2 or 3 players in their starting lineup better than 2 or 3 of SC's players. Holmes, GRC, Manual, J'town, and North Hardin all fall in to that category. I'd personally take the duo or Johnson and Pittman over Euton and Jackson any day of the week. The only player that SC has that I can honestly say no team in the state has an answer for is Phares and that's only because not many teams in the state have the horses down low to put a big body on both Euton and Phares. (Holmes included)

 

I personally see SC having no more than 3 losses this year. As far as Holmes, nobody has said they'd go undefeated, including myself. I see them in the same boat as SC with no more than 3 losses. The only games Holmes will go in to as possible underdogs are the Scott Co and Largo, Md games.

 

Both teams are VERY good but neither is heads and shoulders above the other. The same could be said for SC compared to Manual, J'town. and GRC. Holmes is already a proven team. They return two all state players in Pittman and Johnson who proved themselves during the state tournament last year. SC has yet to prove anything except that they have a lot of good INDIVIDUAL talent.
