I never ducked anything. I don't agree with anything except the gun issue and the NRA spent a lot of money in battleground states attacking Obama's positions. I don't think drugs would have been a winning issue and without an abundance of gay marriage bans on state ballots this year, I don't see how that would have been a winner either.

 

McCain should have personally made character an issue early instead of taking the Jeremiah Wright issue off the table. He should have personally hammered Obama on infanticide, Rezko, and every other shady association and unpopular vote in Obama's past.

 

McCain apparently did a very poor job of opposition research. Obama's threat to bankrupt the coal industry and to "necessarily" cause our utility bills to "skyrocket" should have been found early in the campaign. It would have allowed McCain to have painted Obama as an extreme liberal in very easily understandable terms. McCain failed miserably to paint Obama as an extremist and Obama's record was there begging to be exposed.

 

Republicans need to begin painting Obama as a tax and spending liberal immediately upon his inauguration. If they do, then they may make major gains in the 2010 mid-term elections and force Obama to move back toward the center to preserve his chances in 2012.

The Republicans lost because the core forced McCain to follow suit. If he had stayed himself instead of trying to appease the super conservatives for the general election he might have had a shot. When the republicans elected him in the primary they sent a message that the mass of the party wanted to go away from that ultra conservatism. He failed to read the message and let the ultra conservatives pull him down as the rest of the nation had repudiated that Bush style of republicanism.

The circa 2000 version of McCain really was a maverick ... this year, McCain sold himself out to the right wing.

 

Really now, was the right really going to stay home in this election? They would have voted for McCain if he had picked Lieberman or Ridge as his running mate, simply because they didn't want Obama in office.

 

McCain's choice of Palin and other instances of pandering to the right hurt his chances of pulling independent voters away from Obama.

I completely disagree, there are alot of young pubs out there, that don't agree with this as being the key to victory or even there key issues in their minds. Like it or leave it the young voters are here and with media, mtv, and even video games and the internet being key places for campaigning, the young voter HAS to be a HUGE concern for future candidates and I believe people will see that moving forward.

 

As for single item, what would you say is the rights single item, you don't have to point out the left's because that's clear, and yes.... Sad as well.

I know quite a few Republicans and none of the ones I know voted for Obama. In fact, many of them would have preferred a ticket with her on top and McCain as her running mate.

 

I think Palin was a mistake for the GOP. My closest friend who is a Rep, voted Obama because he did not think McCain made a good choice for VP. I was undeceided till both picked their VP, no way was I going to vote for a ticket with Palin on it. My mother would not vote for Obama, but choose not to vote for McCain, because of Palin. Several people in the GOP came out and said they don't think she was the right choice. McCain's campaign called her a diva and a Whack job. I think she is, where she is, because she has a pretty face. The GOP had a lot more qualified VP candidates and ones that were women.

People seem to be forgetting that the McCain-Palin ticket was leading when the economy tanked. They are also discounting the impact that more than $600 million of campaign donations to Obama, including more than $200 million from unknown sources had on the campaign. McCain made the decision to accept public financing and McCain was co-author of the law that allowed the proliferation of the 527s that allowed George Soros and other wealthy leftists to give a big boost to Obama's campaign.

 

 

Ha funny how this can happen in an economy that's tanking, for a person that's supposed to be "going after the rich, to redistribute wealth", I guess middle and lower class people just really wanted Obama in office. lol

 

Because I know if I was an rich person, or big company, and believe what he was saying to be true, I'd be counting my dollars, not throwing them away. Then again I'm selfish and unpatriotic, especially when I factor in my employees into my decision if I'm in that position....

As dangerous and unqualified as I believe Obama to be, I truly hope that he serves his full four-year term because Joe Biden is nothing but a very experienced goofball. Very few Republicans decided to vote for an extremely inexperienced and extremely liberal presidential candidate because they were troubled by the inexperience of McCain's running mate. That logic makes no sense.
