Don't look for her to be doing too many regular season high school games, she will be doing several college games from what I have heard.

I feel that the 16th has some quality officials. Bobby Hall, Steve Greenhill, Gearheart to name a few. I also think Chad Cook's stock is rising.

Also, good officials do not stand on the sidelines talking to the coaches while a team is shooting free throws. This is a real kicker for me.

 

You might be surprised to learn that officials positioning on the court during free throws has been mandated specifically to allow for communicaton between the coach and the calling official.

Watch other regions. Also I did not say all or most, but quite a few. Look at number of officials who do college games, as well as state tournaments.

State tourney selections are popularity contests, IMO. Perhaps some other folks can elaborate, but I think that if you schmooze enough in the good ol' boys circle, you can get to the state tournament.

I would be surprised at this. However, as a former official I do not remember being instructed to place myself in this position so that a coach can talk to me.

For the most part, you are correct. I have seen this with my own eyes and this is one the main reasons that I no longer officiate. However, I can only speak for my particular region.
