The difference is I believe, is that Holmes had five or six turnovers in the first half that resulted in very easy TD's for HHS but they did put in their JV team in after half-time.

Who does CovCath look to play in the playoffs? If they make the second round, I think they might have to play HHS. Playing in a game as yesterday helps build their confidence don't you think. I'm sure Coach Brossart would agree. The "reality" of it is they need positive reps on the field and they haven't seen many of those this year. Looks like another year in the playoffs for CovCath. That's what good programs are supposed to do.

No, they can't meet up with HHS until the third round. If Johnson Central beats Ashland this week, Cov Cath's first opponent will be one of three teams. They would then likely play Johnson Central in the 2nd round.

 

If Ashland beats JC this week, Cov Cath opens with Woodford County and would then probably play Ashland in the 2nd round.

Big difference. Highlands did that with the JV playing ALL of the second half and Holmes having six turnovers inside of their own 40. TG and the first team came out for the first two series of the second half and then were done.

CovCath only put up 42 points in this game, none coming in the 4th quarter, and gets called out for a lack of class. Another teams puts up 70 (a few years after putting up 81 on the same team) and that's okay with everybody?

Do you really think that? Games like the NCC game builds team confidence up or if they stay in the game against Lou St. X it could build team confidence, but games like Holmes? With all the injuries Holmes has had this season, and with the lack of numbers on the team, do you really build confidence by beating them badly?

 

If it's wanting to build confidence by beating teams badly (and BTW teams CovCath should beat badly) then CovCath needs to play Cov Holy Cross, Lloyd, Ludlow, and Dayton to build up the team confidence each year!

In the two series that TG and the first team came out in the 3rd quarter, they were only in for a total of 5 snaps. So if one really would like to consider the JV not playing all of the third and fourth quarter because of those 5 snaps then I guess I'm wrong. Again, Highlands put up 70 on Holmes because of 6 turnovers inside their own 40 which gave the Birds a short field to work with. Of the 42 points that Highlands scored in the second half against Holmes, only 7 of those came with all of the first team players in.

 

 

CCH would have won this game 56-0 if not for two turnovers inside the Holmes 20, which is why I said this score wasn't as close as it seemed. It has nothing to do with CCH not scoring in the 4th. My problem is this. When you're up 28-0 RUNNING the ball and averaging 8-9 yards a carry, why would you start passing the ball?? The long TD pass to VanSant to put them up 35-0 showed very little class. Also you start taking out your first team but yet you leave in 2 of your best players in VanSant and Deters on both sides of the ball?? Really doesn't make sense. There were lots of JV kids who didn't get to play for CCH yesterday. Isn't developing them important as well considering Holmes cancelled the JV game which meant the JV would get no work this week?

What has happened to the Crazies? They leave at halftime at Highlands and don't show up at Elder and were not there yesterday. I thought they followed the team everywhere, even when they are losing.

I see nothing wrong with passing when your up 28-0. Once they was up they went to something that needs work which is the passing game and I am sure the coaching staff was doing that for the work not to make Holmes look bad.
