I really don't think it's classless in either situation. This running up the score stuff is for the birds (no pun intended). A coach should consider pulling his starters for two reasons. Avoid injury, and get the backups some time. The running clock is in place to help preserve my opponents self esteem. Here is a question to those who think some of this is classless. Why are people not called out for leaving in their starters when the the opposing team is showing "mercy" and have put in the 3rd and fourth strings? What's the difference?

Again there's a big difference when it's first teamers putting up all the points whereas in the Highlands-Holmes game 35 of those 70 came from the 2nd and 3rd string players in the second half who only had to go 40 yards at the most to score.

 

Holmes didn't have 6 turnovers inside of their own 40 against CCH.

The program isn't the one who called the plays. :sssh: I think it's kinda hard though for someone to comment on the game yesterday when they weren't even there. Anyone who was there knows what I'm talking about and knows this score would and should have been 56-0 if not for two turnovers by the Colonels inside their 20. Being up 42-0 midway through the 3rd quarter and waiting til 6 minutes to go in the 4th to pull all of your starters is very distasteful IMO.

I don't think the score necessarily showed a lack of class by CCH, but leaving in Van Sant and Deters did. I think it is great that Deters broke a school record for a single game with 331 yds, but classless that he was left in. The passing I can somewhat live with, because with the starting QB out, Young should get opportunity to pass and develop his game; but leaving Van Sant and Deters in really did not improve or develop them.

 

And as someone stated earlier, Covington of Holmes looked like a pretty decent player. He should be used more.

Not really, I've read the game summaries and listened to the broadcast. What am I missing?

Shouldn't Young, who is most likely going to be the QB for a few more weeks, get a few opportunities to play with his best players?

 

How beneficial would it have been for Young to work with the 2nd stringers? Maybe the first string was left in longer because they SHOULD have had 56 and made too many mistakes. The best way to work on those mistakes is to play more football, in a game situation.

I guess the CCH coaching staff just can't catch a break this year. The team has struggled mightily, and the fans can't even be positive after a 42-0 win--Where's the support? I doubt that negativity will help this team win any playoff games, but some real fan support could.

 

All of the CCH family needs to rally together. This team can possibly do something in the playoffs this year. The negativity hasn't seemed to work so far, so maybe some encouragement to the 13-17 year old kids might help them with the extrememly challenging task ahead in the next month.

There are very few fans who are being negative after this win. The majority of us, including myself, are very pleased with this game & the outcome.

Glad to hear it!!! Getting through the playoffs this year is going to be a monumental task-especially with how good Highlands and Johnson Central are both playing--but it can be done. Good luck Colonels the rest of the way.

Well I have heard some things :sssh: but I don't want to sound negative, as I don't want Mr. Reality to get mad at me.....

 

Being on the football team and attending a JV games after a ACT test seems quite different than a student who just comes to the games to cheer on his friends. I can remember my daughter taking the ACT test and coming home with a huge headache and laying down and taking a nap. She was beat, at least after the first time she took the ACT!
