MMA Fans: EliteXC is Closing Up Shop

Featured Replies

:thumb: The second it was over I was calling fix.

After I watched the video, I didn't have too many doubts. It was pretty obvious, IMO.

Jake shields

Robbie Lawler

Nick Diaz

Antonio Silva - never fought under 300lbs

Paul Daley

Brett Rogers

Rafael Feijao

KJ Noons

Benji Radach

Dave Herman

Eddie Alvarez - non-exclusive contract with Adrenaline MMA

All guys the UFC should try and sign but there is problems with some of them.

I wouldnt mind seeing them go after the majority of those guys along with Jake Shields.

If your refering to the Antonio Silva thats was the heavyweight champ in EXC then he has faught under 300lbs. He's been fighting around 250 or 260.

What was obvious about it?

Kimbo's trainer said that he didnt like that they encouraged him to stand with Kimbo because they trained 80 percent of the time for the ground game.

Now if only we could get lucky enough to have UFC close....

Why do you say that? Does the UFC bother you personally? Its not like you have to watch it.

Since you don't like it, it should be closed? A lot of people love mixed martial arts. A lot of people make a lot of money off of mixed martial arts. The UFC is the reason for that.

That's just how the fixes work. When NCAA players are shaving points, it has nothing to do with the teams or the NCAA - it has to do with other "organizations" that are making a load of money.

I don't think you understand Mixed Martial Arts very much. It's not boxing. It's not basketball.

Fights end quickly. Andrei Arlovski won a fight once in around 10 seconds. It looked like a phantom punch, but in the replay it clearly shows he caught the guy on his jaw and knocked him out.

Anderson Silva knocked out James Irvin in under 20 seconds.

Very quick KO's happen. That doesn't automatically make it a fix.

I think that if the organization (EliteXC) tried to pay Petruzelli to stand up with Kimbo, that is wrong. It's possible that did happen. But for Kimbo to take a dive, that doesn't make sense. He has a lot of casual MMA fans ...or had a lot of casual MMA fans...thinking he was a very good fighter. If he won that fight, he stood to make a lot of money off of MMA in the future. Probably way more than he would have made off of any fix.

I really don't think Kimbo would have fixed this fight in order for himself to lose. If he did...he's an idiot.

Actually it was more like a minute or a little more. Everything else is right on. Just had to correct you on that one little typo.:D

You are correct. It was 1:01. Little had been done in that fight up to that point though, so I forgot that it lasted very long. All I remember is Irvin throwing a leg kick, Silva catching the kick and landing a huge bomb of a right hand .

I wouldn't mind seeing the UFC pick up Shields and Lawler.

I understand how fighting works. I'm not buying it. I think it was shady.

But you have no evidence to back that up therefore your claim is based on nothing other than your opinion. I could believe that EliteXC tried to fix it by paying Petruzelli to stand. I think that might have happened. Other than that, there was no fix IMO.

How so?
