Ashland wins this one with suprising ease...........42-14.

Ashland faces another district foe next week playing in Lexington against Bryan Station.

 

In 2007 the Defenders nailed the Cats 34 – 20. They are arguably the biggest and most physical team Ashland has faced so far this year and will provide a formidable obstacle in the Tomcats race for a district championship.

 

BS is currently 3 – 4 and 1 -2 in the district. Also, they are coming off a loss to cross town rival Henry Clay 21 – 28…I look for this game to be a slug fest and a test of wills between two large and experienced lines…Tomcat linemen will be tested next Friday.

 

Painter they may be the biggest,but if you were at the 1st game and the ones after nobody IMO could be anymore physical than Raceland was with the Cats, that score should have been alot worse except for turnovers as the Rams punished the Cats. IMO Ashland wins a shootout 38-33

Well you are certainly entitled to your opinion Inez 85. But, Raceland is NOT the most physical team that Ashland has played this year. I mean no disrespect to the Rams; they beat us fair and square in game 1. But Ironton and Montgomery Co. both were more physical than Raceland.

 

Painter has it right – Bryan Station will be the biggest and most physical to date.

Given the narrow context of your observation, I agree that at that point in time, Raceland was the most physical team Ashland had faced. What the Rams lacked in size, they made up for with intensity… they played what appeared to be mid-season form back in August.

 

So…if you are writing about the “way” Raceland played, you are correct that all those Rams played “large”. The reality though is, Ashland has faced much bigger opponents in terms of not only playing “large” but actually being “large” to boot.

 

Ironton was certainly a challenge, and even our current 4th place holder in the district, Montgomery Co was bigger that the Rams. As for the game with Bryan Station, they ARE our biggest opponent so far. According to their roster, they have 15 players listed over 250lbs and several of those behemoths are over 300. Raceland, I believe has 4 or 5 in this category….

 

I respect your opinion, Inez…but the game with BS will be a bruising and bloody battle. Raceland, and others, have provided great experience for the Tomcats in getting ready for the two hardest and remaining games on the schedule.

^ Painter, sometimes us 1A fans get little man syndrome.:lol: I have played against BS when they had a Division 1 running back and QB. The kids they have and get to pick from just is mind boggling compared to the boys here in Worthington/Raceland area. That is why we have to play you guys at "mid season form" during week one to even compete.

Painter, Bryan Station has a defensive tackle that is just huge. Tall and broad. Station has size and speed, but I don't think they're a lot bigger than Ashland. You guys don't have big round bellies on the line which I think is a good thing, your kids are in excellent shape. Oh and Montgomery currently occupies the 5th spot in the district, Station would be the 4th team based on record right now.

I take the tomcats in this one 37-28. I feel that I have to take the tomcats beacuse they are playing really good football! Good luck Ashland!
