You dont have to give mine any credit, dont expect it from anyone from L.C., but the #'s dont lie, you will see in the next 3 years. Let me explain something to you Skate, playing in a couple of games in open gym in the summer doesnt mean you are grooming, and second, what is your definition of " working out"; working out to me is playing good comp. either with your own age or by playing up, and playing up doesnt mean anything, the freshman class at Mason will play just as good if not better comp than what the varsity will at Lewis, so what do you mean when you say it hasnt worked out, or may not work out, not every kid is going after a basketball scholarship (sp) but that doesnt mean playing in your own age group is considered a failure or not starting at a larger school is a failure, as long as it is the best thing for that kid. Ask yourself why these kids have left, and I know the answer to all 5, and its not because they were done Right at Lewis, so explain me why you think they left.

Parents played a role in most of the kids development????????????????

Surely this thread will not be about how parents know how to best develop their kids into "PLAYERS"

Couldn't agree more NETS. Sometimes parent egos get in the way of allowing their child to become successful. Not all players can be "The Star", but it doesnt mean they cant be successful or an important part of a greater thing (TEAM). Rumors have run rampant about certain players exiting at Elliott Co over the last year and a half, but none have left. Despite grumblings that are often heard on these msg boards, the Elliott Co team has stayed in tact, and have had 2 successful trips to Rupp. They are currently the dead on favorite to make it a three-peat. Lewis Co. parents might want to take note of how it is done, even at a smaller school, great things can happen, but it cannot be done when parents continue to look for greener pastures (as I stated earlier).

IMO moves are made to give the kids the best opportunity to succeed. If parents feel the kids have a better chance to succeed and the kids want to transfer then this is the best thing for the situation. The kid whose a freshman has a good chance do great things at his new school. Lewis Co. doesnt get the attention or attract the scouts like other schools do.

Didn't the 7th grader play AAU with some Mason County kids the past few years? If not, I have the wrong player in mind.

Unless I am mistaken on whom we are discussing, I believe that his father was/ is his coach. And he has done a terrific job with him on and off the court. I trust that whatever the case may be, that his dad did what he deemed in his son's best interest. I can't blame him.

I know that the seventh grader and freshman they are speaking of both transferred to Mason County. But i am unsure of the third, if i had to guess i would say that he is now a freshman at Trinitiy High School. Other than that have no clue whom the third could be.

Where did these kids transfer to?

Mason County.

You are correct and I completly agree. But I'm seventy five percent confident that in all these cases the kid had the choice. With Mason County being so prestigous, how could they not choose to go there?

I know all of the kids they are talking about and I don't think Chris Harrison is one of them. He is at Trinity, and I don't think he has ever been in Lewis County, but he would be welcomed with open arms.

Mason County.

I don't know all of the specifics in these cases; but to be fair, kids in the western end of the county can either drive 14 miles to Mason or 18 miles to LCHS. Mason County is pretty prestigious right now, so I can see where the appeal would be for some parents.

To be sure, it's a bad deal for Lewis, but what can you do?

I think the parents always do what they think is best. I also believe that most of the time they are unrealistic with their expectations. This is why parents hold back kids and change schools, to gain an advantage. At some point, it will sort its way out, and those that can play because of ability will play.

I think his 6th grade year he attended Lewis Co. and played 8th grade as well as freshman/jv ball. He only stayed for a year.

Maybe they should just move the county line to the top of Heron Hill to make it more convenient for the athletes from Tollesboro.

Don't think he ever attended Lewis County. He has been at schools in Indiana and Louisville,I believe. Isn't his mom an FBI agent and they have to move a lot, seems like have read that here on the boards before.
