And I think it's great that citizens get to vote. However the ones who vote to keep a place dry are only creating opportunities for people to bootleg, and forcing people to drive longer distances to get their alcohol. The ones who want to drink will drink, no matter if a county is dry or not.

Prohibition helped create organize crime in America. Alcohol was banned, but a lot of people still wanted it. Therefore organized crime groups decided it was worth breaking the law to give people what they want.

 

Wives and children are beaten in many rages, not just drunken. We can't ban people from getting angry, we can only try to teach them that beating their wife or child isn't the right thing to do.

I said I think it's stupid because it creates an opportunity for bootleggers to make money off of crime, and it forces people to drive long distances for their alcohol, thus creating a greater chance they will drink and drive on the way back. For what it's worth can we get specific numbers on both the numbers you describe and the number of years since Prohibition has been repealed in addition to the numbers involving deaths that were alcohol or organiized crime related DURING Prohibition and its duration?

 

That way we can factor it out and discuss the numbers in proportion to each other as opposed to just throwing back arbitrary numbers at each other.
