Then what is your opinion of them?

My opinion of those that commit or promote voter fraud by falsely registering people or of those who try to supress voters is very negative. I hope that those committing such acts are found and punished.

Many, probably most, of the ACORN workers are NOT committing those acts. For those that are simply registering new voters, I find that commendable. It's one of our most basic rights as an American and can be very empowering.

That's where we disagree. I think a large number of ACORN workers are doing it and a large number if not most of the higher ups know about and encourage it. They are under investigation in 13 states. You don't get that because of a few bad apples.

More than a few bad apples, true. However, IMO it is still a small percentage.

I just saw a report on this on CNN. In one particular region in Indiana, they had found more than 2000 new voter registrations that were fraudulent (sp?). Almost all of them had the same handwriting on them, including signature. I hope that it makes that person easier to find and prosecute.

If ACORN were running a college basketball program, the program would receive the death penalty for its extreme failure to exercise institutional control. I doubt that only a small percentage of ACORN workers engage in voter fraud but even if that is true a small percentage of workers who are willing to register the same people repeatedly, who are willing to register 7-year olds by adding 20 years to their ages, and who are willing to use phone directories and NFL rosters as sources of names for outright forgeries is adequate to have a profound impact on this presidential election.

With all of the allegations of vote suppression and fraud that were made by Democrats in both 2000 and 2004, there were few (if any) criminal charges filed against Republicans.

Now, faced with real voter registration fraud, Democrats are quick to dismiss the problem as just a few bad apples acting independently of their beneficiaries.

ACORN should be investigated for possible RICO Act violations and the investigation should have been launched as soon as evidence of systematic voter fraud surfaced in the second of 13 states.

Well, you just basically said that after you posted this by claiming most of ACORN workers are NOT committing those acts. So in essence, I wasn't wrong was I?

I've gotten to where I realize it doesn't matter what I say anymore. There's way too much twisting of words and assigning meanings to them that aren't there. I expect it from some posters, just not others. There just seems to be no possible way of having a rational discussion in here anymore. I guess I will have to stick to the PMs.

It's amazing how some will dig, dig, and dig some more so this black man won't be the next President. Got news for ya's, it's gonna happen.
See, this is exactly the reason I don't think many Obama supporters are ready for a black president, the constant accusations that if you have something against him it's because of his skin color. I find it reprehensible that people think if you don’t like his policies, his stance on the issues you must be a bigot. Very sad!

TB&G, I wasn't trying to twist anything, it's just how the post came across to me. You know full well I have the utmost respect for your views and opinions, I just don't always agree.

I agree. That kind of rhetoric is very offensive and in the end, it will be counterproductive for Obama. Obama is by far the most liberal presidential candidate to ever run on the ticket of a major party. Very few people who voted against John Kerry and Al Gore will be voting for Obama and his race has nothing to do with that fact. Millions of people just despise socialists.

BTW, have you seen the ad where George McGovern, arguably the second most liberal presidential candidate in history, opposes the bill to deny would-be union members the right to secret ballot votes? If there was any doubt whether Obama is more liberal than McGovern, McGovern removed all doubt. Obama supports the bill, which will open all non-union workers to the kind of thuggery practiced by ACORN. Community organizing at its finest.

Yes I have seen that, I must say I'm not surprised though. People are going to have quite a "hangover" if they put this man in the White House.
