"But Cubs fans NEVER bring up the curse!"

Featured Replies

Heck, half the time I brought up Dusty and Corey it was because, in the eyes of some posters here, I was a disgruntled Cubs fan. Never mind that I was right, and by the end of the season every Reds fan on here was sick and tired of seeing Patterson in the lineup. Maybe I was just ahead of the curve.

Bottom line ... I don't chide anybody on here for being Reds fans. It doesn't seem to apply the other way here.

Ahead of the curve on what? I don't remember too many of the true Reds fans being happy with Corey from the get go, but you still wanted to bring him up on a consistent basis. Nobody is chiding you for being a Cubs fan. Heck, I was rooting for the Cubs to win it all. I simply posted something that I thought was funny, thus the laughing smilie at the end of my post. You were obviously disgruntled with what seems to be another post season failure by the Cubs, and took offense to my post.

From the Patterson signs with the Reds thread....

I actually like the Patterson move. He's still only 28, and gives them power, and speed of the bench, or someone to play CF if Bruce starts the year off in Louisville. I have no idea why they signed Hairston.

Good move to bring in Patterson. I always thought he was a nice player early in his career at Chicago.

I completely agree.

I like the Patterson pick up alot.

Actually, my point on Dusty and Corey was Baker's usage of the guy, constantly hitting him at the top of the order. It was more of an attack on Dusty than it was on Patterson.

Bull. Happens here all the time ...

There you go again ...

I'm not losing any sleep over the Cubs being down 0-2 in the series. If they win, great. If not, life goes on. The last time I got emotional about the Cubs was 1984 ... heck, I was 17 years old then.

You apparently have no idea why I took offense to it. Although you should ...

Sounds to me like early season optimism. I hated the move. Reality soon set in for everyone else.

As I stated from the post you quoted that I thought the deal was good when they first signed Corey. You youself said that he would have been fine if used in the right situation, late inning defensvie replacement, pinch runner, etc... That obviously never happened. I knew that your attack was more on Dusty. My point was, and is that you kept making it over and over. I have no idea why you took offense to my attempt at a joke, and I have no idea why you think I should. If you want to pm me about it please do.

I didn't quote you ... Scribe did.

And I was right over and over, even if the Reds' fans didn't see it.

You're right. My bad. I wondered why you had quoted me twice. :lol:They did see it. That's my point. Most everyone had acknowledged that they were sick and tired of Dusty using Patterson.

And I was right over and over, even if the Reds' fans didn't see it.

And we were right over and over again. When the going gets tough, the Cubs fold...

At the time you blasted me publicly for bringing up the topic, there wasn't the rampant anti-Patterson sentiment on this board like it was later in the season.

Still, I didn't deserve to be hammered for bringing it up, especially something I was right about. Heck, you guys should have been griping about it ... I just did it for you.

There you go again, too ...

I've never said anything about the Cubs' postseason chances this year. I'm just watching it and seeing how it plays out.

I don't believe GT said anything about you. He was talking about the Cubs.

So why did he quote and paraphrase my post?

Hard to post about the Cubs when most of your last 500 posts concern the Reds... :walk:

So why did he quote and paraphrase my post?

Because you said that you were right over and over about Corey and Dusty. GT merely stated that he was right over and over that the Cubs would choke.
