September 28, 200818 yr I can't even believe this is being applauded by "some" within the McCain camp as a boost for the campaign. Are we seriously going to politicize an 18-year-old girl's wedding? I refuse to believe that Sen. McCain is thinking anything like these unnamed "insiders." http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/us_elections/article4837644.ece
September 28, 200818 yr Slipping away to kill her baby would be better? Having the baby alone without the dad involved is better? Acting ashamed and embarassed toward your child and grandchild is better? I agree that politicizing this situation is lame, but what's the point here otherwise fellas?

Acting ashamed and embarassed toward your child and grandchild is better? I agree that politicizing this situation is lame, but what's the point here otherwise fellas? Did you read the article? According to the article, McCain insiders are HOPING for a big politicized wedding to boost his ratings. I find it hard to believe that is what McCain wants. I am sure that he would be happy for the couple to marry, but I hope that it is still beneath him to politicize it.

Acting ashamed and embarassed toward your child and grandchild is better? I agree that politicizing this situation is lame, but what's the point here otherwise fellas? You're unreal. Who said or implied any of the possibilities you threw out there? The "point" (obvious to most who can see straight) is that you have campaign members saying anonymously that a wedding will help the campaign. They're not saying that its good for the daughter. They're not saying that its a good that the baby will have a married mom and dad. They're saying it will be good for the campaign. THAT'S almost as ridiculous as your response. It shows how sad we are as a society that a)someone in a campaign actually believes that crap or b)we're stupid enough as a society that said crap might be true.
September 28, 200818 yr Is it just me, or is the McCain/Palin campaign getting just a bit desperate? The suggestion that a shotgun wedding would give the campaign a needed bounce is something that I never thought I'd see.

I don't believe Sen. McCain would stoop to this.

Trying to get a runner on base any way they can. It's quite pathetic to use these young adults.
September 28, 200818 yr To be fair and as I pointed out, this absurdity came from campaign workers. I don't believe Sen. McCain would stoop to this. You are correct - that's why I said "the campaign", rather than attributing the suggestion to either Mr. McCain or Ms. Palin.
September 28, 200818 yr Author You are correct - that's why I said "the campaign", rather than attributing the suggestion to either Mr. McCain or Ms. Palin. I understand. I just wanted to throw that out there before some read this as an attack against the Senator or the Governor. The attack is on us voters.
September 28, 200818 yr What a joke. If McCain uses this to boost his campaign, he is really desperate. It will be interesting to see if he does have a front row seat and has all the media there. I didn't know that "shot-gun" weddings was such a big deal. Palin is making a joke out of the Republican party. How can anyone take them seriously with a stunt like this?

The suggestion that a shotgun wedding would give the campaign a needed bounce is something that I never thought I'd see. Why? It combines our love of 2nd Amendment rights and our love of married couples all in one!
