Covington Catholic 30 Highlands 21 (JV)

I'm not real big on the excuses. CovCath JV beat HHS JV. Hopefully all involved learned from the experience. That's what it's about.

Excellent point!

Almost as good as if Leatherneck would have agreed with one my posts!!

I'm not sold on how much work the HHS 2nd team got on Friday. It was 1st teamers up to halftime, and it was a running clock in the 2nd half. Sure they played a "full" half of football, but it was a 61 point game shortly after they came in, and that's how it ended in a 2nd half that lasted about 30 minutes...

The score remained that way in the second half because they didn't do much offensively except run the ball with the running backs. If Highlands wanted to run the score up more they could have but whats the point!!!

What does that have to do with the fact the reserves didn't play much Friday night because when they came in it was a running clock???

Maybe I misunderstood what he was getting at, mainly the last part of the last sentence. So let me say that if it was a running clock or not, playing a half of RUNNING clock football against the number ones and then turning around the next day and playing JV is not as easy as some may think!!!

With that being said good luck to Cov Cath's JV!!!

You're right about it being a running clock, but keep in mind that a lot of Highlands JVs were sophomores and a lot of them played both ways in the second half (and others have pointed out, are on Highlands starting special teams so they played a lot in the first half, particularly those on the kickoff teams..no offense intended to CovCath). And they played the entire second half against CovCath starters. You get beat on by kids older and much bigger than you (aren't they all in your case...okay, that was mean:D) for an entire half, even an abbreviated one, and I guarantee you, that you will get out of bed the next morning extremely sore and tired.

But as DMZ pointed out, we still lost and it was what it was. No excuses. Congrats to the CovCath JVs on the win. I'm sure the Birds JV players enjoyed playing and the competition, just were disappointed in the outcome.
