The person that bought a house he couldn't afford is ignorant. He or she has a job so they aren't lazy in a way that makes them somewhat of a responsible person.

 

 

Often times, some outstanding citizens posses all three characteristics, lazy, irresponsible and ignorant. People that are nothing but a burden to society, yet the government will step in and help them out with their bills, food stamps, etc.

 

Sorry if I'm going way off topic here. Here's a situation of a personal experience of mine.

 

I'm a full time college student. I also try to work as close to full time as I possibly can, even though that meant working midnight shifts followed by a full day of school Monday through Friday. I needed the money. I'm going to school to better myself so I'm obviously not ignorant. I try to work while going to school so I feel that I'm not lazy. I try to put x amount of money back out of every check I receive, maybe it's only 5 or 10 bucks but every little bit helps, right ? I feel that makes me a responsible person. At the beginning of this semester, I applied for financial aid. I was denied due to the fact that I worked while I went to school. I suppose the financial aid people thought that the 100 to 150 dollars a week I made was plenty enough for me to pay my tuition, books, food, gas, ect.

 

Some of the people I go to school with that are full time students and don't work received financial aid. I'm not at all saying these guys fall into any of the previous mentioned characteristics. Just giving a mean for comparison.

 

So basically I was penalized for attempting to help my family out and work my way through school. That seems backwards to me.

 

The system stinks in that regards, the gov't expects your family to pay basically. How old are you though, once you turn 23 I believe it is, then the gov't will no longer require your parents income as well. So that will surely make a difference in your eligibility.

Your hopeless if you can't see the truth on this one. What was Bush suppose to do, write a bill every 6 months? It was obvious where the Demcrats stood and they weren't going to crack down on it.

The point is Bush didn't create the problem, and he did try to fix it. Now that it didn't work out, you're saying he's at fault. Can you not take off the blinders for just a moment to see how ludacris that seems.

So you're saying Bush couldn't have proposed something again in say... 2006? 2007? If something was going to develop into a problem of this magnitude I would think that our President should have been more pressing about the issue.

 

I'm not saying that congressional Dems. aren't also partially to blame in this, but the fact remains that W. was the President and only tried once to fix this problem; then when it got worse you're saying he was like, "ohhhhh well...those Dems. in congress won't let me pass this so why even bother..." I don't think anyone knew how bad this was going to get and that's why we're in the spot we're in now.

No, I'm saying that it's funny and pathetic how people want to not allow blame for the problem happening at all on anyone but Bush, when if fact he tried to fix it. The guys not a saint, he's made some poor choices, sure, but it's horribly pathetic how everyone wants to make him out as the scape goat for everything that's gone wrong over the past 8-10 years. And yes I really mean to say 8-10 years. That's how pathetic people are.

Let me get this straight- if George Bush had came out and said in any of his 8 years in office, "We are not going to require companies to handout loans to poor people who can't afford them," you would have leaped up in support?

 

No, just like the Democrats didn't, because why would they want to anger their voting base.

 

So, your strategy was to critize and belittle everything that Bush did in office, and then afterwards blame him for not taking more action that you would have criticized and belittle.

 

The fault on this comes down to a lot of people, and some more than others. I am no Bush supporter or apologist, but I don't think that this is his fault as much as some others.

Also, let me get this straight- you don't give Bush credit for trying to do something in 2003, but once it hit 2006, you criticize him? You are upset with his timing?

You telling me that George W. couldn't take care of it after eight years in the Office? So he tried something in 2003 but what has he done since then? It's escalated to a crisis and he's done nothing. I like my kool aid, it helps settle my stomach from all the indigestion that George W. and the Republicans have given me over the last eight years.

I can't wait until Bush is out of office just so we can create a thread about what in this world we can blame Bush for. It seems like he's responsible for alot of what wrong in this country right now according to alot of posters, and people that only digest what the media feeds them. No way anyone else is to blame, not while G.W is still in office for a few more months...

He's great when they agree, horrible when they don't or the masses aren't happy. I think alot of what's troubling people now is really the media looking for ratings. Which in my mind is horrible, they run stories and numbers that will scare the crap out of people simply because they know it will catch their attention and make them watch, espeically viewers that may be less educated.:madman:

I have always thought that about the media. How much time have they spent talking about how the dollar is getting stronger? Or that the price of oil/gas is coming down ($3.46 in Henderson this morning BTW)?
