September 25, 200818 yr He's all over the TV today. Doesn't sound like he's in Bush's corner, or McCains. He said earlier when ask about McCain's stance on this current situation: "I don't know his stance, we haven't heard from him" This not from Bunning, but from other sources...Obamba has called in every day to check on the situation. Not all Republicans on the Banking Committee have expressed such serious misgivings, but attacks on the Paulson Plan are increasing. Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Ky.) called the plan "financial socialism and it is un-American." Edited September 25, 200818 yr by Baseballguy
September 25, 200818 yr It's odd but I find it a little comforting that a man whose only notable accomplishment (I use that word loosely) in the Senate to date is the steroids investigation has finally decided to do something and be a part of the public eye. Granted, it's probably just because he is likely in his last term and doesn't care what anyone thinks anymore. But you gotta think Uncle Mitch is disappointed with his boy.
September 25, 200818 yr ^ I saw a story not too long ago where he said he was running again ... I wonder who will run against him?
September 25, 200818 yr I wonder who will run against him? The question is "what wouldn't I vote for if it were running against Jim Bunning?"
September 26, 200818 yr Bunning has been pretty much of a do-nothing during his years in the Legislature. However, I will give credit where credit is due. My father-in-law, a die-hard Democrat (like everyone else in the mcpapa family, in-laws included), needed something done relative to a health condition. Bunning took care of it. Still never was enough for my father-in-law to change his voting stripes, but he always was appreciative. For whatever reason, I got the distinct impression from that event that Bunning was much more suited for taking care of "little things"; and that he was pretty much in over his head on the national political stage.
September 26, 200818 yr I wonder who will run against him? Probably Greg Stumbo, which would be a shame. Maybe Ben Chandler, but I'm skeptical as to whether he could win a statewide election. After that, I don't know. I'm not sure if Mongiardo wants to take another swing at it; something tells me he'd rather wait and go after the Gov's chair when Beshear's done.
September 26, 200818 yr Bunning will not make it out of a primary, NKY's support, and my money, will go to Trey Grayson.

September 26, 200818 yr Bunning will not make it out of a primary, NKY's support, and my money, will go to Trey Grayson. That seems more likely that he would be the nominee.

September 26, 200818 yr I've heard that Trey will take a shot at the governor's office. Probably not a bad idea. Beshear is quite vulnerable, IMO, and anyone not named Ernie Fletcher has a good chance.
September 26, 200818 yr Bunning will not make it out of a primary, NKY's support, and my money, will go to Trey Grayson. From what I've seen, I like Trey Grayson.:thumb: Bunning's last campaign was bizarre. Where was he?

September 26, 200818 yr From what I've seen, I like Trey Grayson.:thumb: Bunning's last campaign was bizarre. Where was he? Hyperbaric chamber, trying to slow the deterioration of his brain. Either that, or trying to find new ways to call Mongiardo gay, and new people to do it for him.
