Early, but can ANYONE beat Lou. Central in 3a?

Featured Replies

I sorta hate to pop this one up late on a Saturday night, but given there isn't a UK game, I am just thinking about it. IMO, Belfry has a NICE team, but they aren't particularly big and IMO maybe not as strong as last season.

Breathitt Co. just BARELY beat Estill Co. Harlan Co. appears to be a good team, but not a champion. Sheldon Clark is good but not exceptional. Russell just go throttled by Asland.

AND, Paducah Tilghman just got WHACKED by Fort Campbell. Not to mention Elizabethtown et al, just don't seem to be enough.

Given Central's impressive win over Male, can ANYONE challenge them come December? I know its early to have this discussion, but IMO (and I like to think I know a LITTLE bit about 3A ball) it looks like a repeat.

Comments.

I would say that Belfry has the best shot.

A LOT can happen between now and then but for conversation sake, they are pretty much the clear frontrunner. That and .99 will get you a childs size frosty at Wendy's now though.

I would say that Belfry has the best shot.

Agreed...

Belfry and Central are the favorites. No question about it.

This year may actually be rolling out a little better for Central than last year......

Anyone can be beaten. This is H.S. football

Given what Belfry and Cental lost to graduation, I would have said -- Centra 1, Belfry 2 preseason.

At this point though, it looks like -- Central 1, Belfry (way off 2nd) and then who knows.

Royal Nation will gladly take that 3rd spot for now if no one wants it ....

But, we may want a little more later in the season !:flame:

Belfry definately appears to clear cut second choice, but I agree with Pirate Pride...the Pirates have a ways to go right now to catch up with Central. Belfry is still trying to piece together their O-line after an early season defection and some injuries. With the exception of Thomas "Do Everything During the Game But Color Commentary" Varney, the Belfry offense has not really been as sparkling as it was expected to as well. Defnsively, the Pirates have yet to gel at the positions that were hit by graduation and don't seem to have that dominating defense they ahd last season.

Breathitt has been disappointing and have seem to struggle with their passing game.

Russell got taken behind the woodshed.

Tilghman has been very disappointing.

Etown has been less than stellar losing to Lou. Holy Cross who Belfry previously dismantled.

Mason County has alrerady lost to a Boone County who is not their normal self, they also struggled in their opener vs. lowly Paris

Somerset lost EVERYONE from last year.

The only teams who have exceeded expectations thusfar would be Henry County, Harlan County, and Sheldon Clark. These teams though seem to fall into that pack behind Central and Belfry.. it sort of looks like this right now.

Louisville Central is the favorite! As for your question, they can be beat but only by Belfry. Nobody else could beat them IMO!

I'd say Ike stopped them this past week.

There is one team who could beat Louisville Central and beat them soundly in 3A. Well that team is Louisville Central they are loaded and if they keep progressing like championship teams do come Decmeber it will be a long ride home for whoever they play.

Right now Central seems to be the clear cut favorite but anything can happen it is too early to tell Belfry has Coach Haywood and there are several other teams who could be the sleeper this year like Central was last year. This is why they play every Friday Night.

Boone Co. is a highly ranked 6A team. I think #5 or #6 here on BGP.

Belfry always has a chance, however Central is the big favorite.
