Pretty much everything I want to say has already been said in this thread anyways but I'll say it anyways.

 

Anderson/Beaumont are the real deal playmakers for this team. I was huge on Powell coming into this season but he just flat out doesn't have the natural ability that Vic does. The Vic/Brock speed/power combo is going to be deadly this year. Chichester is only a freshman so I can live with some of his mistakes but when he reaches his full potential I think he will be better than Mario was. When Scott Long comes back 100% this offense is going to be stellar with Long/Chichester/Beaumont and Vic/Brock. If Hunter continues his high level of play this team is a legit contender for the Big East. English is the man, even though there were a few different times last night when it looked like last years defense on the field. Poor arm tackling at times and blown coverages but they have most certainly come a long way in a short period of time. Special teams in killing us right now and Philpott may be the worst kicker I've ever seen at UofL. I'm very happy to see they took him out of the game last night. Great game for the Cards and an even better confidence booster, they have the talent to beat anyone they play this year, now they just have to get out there and do it.

Other than the two dropped passes in the end zone (one of which was behind him) I thought Chichester played a great game, remember he is only a freshman.

 

The story of the night was Victor Anderson, he was far to quick for that Defense.

 

I like the young talent Louisville is showing, in the next couple years we could have another contending team.

 

I thought he played some basketball last year so how could he be a freshman?

Why, why, WHY, do our corners consistently give 8-10 yard cushions on receivers? We give up way too many first downs that way.

No denying the special teams and kicking was awful but answer this question for me??!! Not going for the field goal (4th & 1) at the beginning of game...does that say to your kicker...we think you stink?!! Also pulling him out of the game? Does this kill the kids confidence? For the record I don't disagree with either decisions made but have heard others (not on BGP) say they disagree.

I was fine with them going for two it but that obviously had to hurt the kids confidence and then they put him back in later and he misses an easy FG again. After they went for two I think they should have immediately stuck in Dougherty. I mean come on, I don't have any personal vendetta against the kid but he's a DI kicker and he's 1/3 FG's on the year and 6/7 PAT's. That's absolutely awful. Even the ones he has made looked like wounded ducks flying through the uprights. I just want to know what he looked like in practice before the season, there's no way he was this bad and still got the starting spot.

Maybe UK and UL could work out a trade.:laugh:

Agree with you and would be curious about pre-season and practice. It is my understanding this guy was highly sought after as far as kickers go.
