I personally think that maybe Ashland should be above Fairview, reason being the Tomcats imo have played a much tougher schedule so far.

I basically agree with the ratings, only small difference I would make is to put Russell and Raceland in a tie right now. Not a big change at all. I would list mine this way..............

 

1. Johson Central -( no doubt)

2. Russell / Raceland - Tie ( I don't think that there is much difference in the two right now and could be interchanged)

 

4. Ashland

5. Fairview

6. Boyd County

7. Rowan County

 

so people, go ahead and blast me for putting Ashland above Fairview and Raceland/Russell even right now (key words being "right now"). I can take it. :lol:

The very last sentence of my post said "right now". I have highlighted it for you to make it easier so you can re read my post. I don't consider right now last season. My opinion of the rating was just that......an opinion. Should your opinion be different then that is fine, I don't have a problem with it and that is what this is all about.....opinions.

I don't mind someone disagreeing with me at all, that is fine but they could at least read the entire post and understand what I said before they do.:walk:

How can Ashland be above a top 10 team like Fairview? Fairview has 2 shut outs and scoring around 38 points per game! The Independent can't see the forrest for the trees on this one.

 

Fairview has played a very weak schedule thus far compared to Ashland who has played a very good Raceland team close, scored 40 in a win against Pikeville, and played Ironton to the wire also. Im sorry but I just dont think Fairview has proved anything yet; no offense to Lewis, Nicholas, or East but by no means are they on the same level this year as Raceland or Ironton. Fairview moves up when they beat a more quality opponent, which they have that oppurtunity this week against Raceland. But as some people said in the above posts, the Super 7 is gonna change alot after this week, so we'll see.

Well said, RamCat. Until Fairview beats someone noteworthy, their undefeated record of 3-0 is a bit suspect. The cumulative won/loss record for Fairview’s opponents this year is a whopping 1 – 7. On that same note, Ashland’s opponents are at 5 – 3.

 

I think we can at least all agree that the Super 7 poll will look a bit different next week.

I have a problem with Ashland being #4. Why is it that no other teams get any respect when the are 3-0. Let Ashland beat Russell and earn that spot above Fairview. This is the same biased stuff that we saw last year. You would not see this with any other team in the area accept Ashland and that is why it puts a bad taste in every ones mouth.

I’m not seeing a whole lot of people defending Ashland’s #4 ranking on this poll. Some objections have been made but the arguments as to who would you place above them is a bit weak. Personally, I believe the Tomcats need to go out and take care of business on the field and let these polls fall where they may. Ashland has a lot to work on besides worrying about Super 7 rankings.

 

Why wouldn’t Russell want Ashland ranked at #4 anyway? After all, if the devils win Friday night, would it not be desirable to have beaten a team ranked as high as possible? It’s rather obvious that Russell just doesn’t have many opportunities to beat a ranked team. On the other hand, if Ashland beats Russell, should the two teams swap spots on this poll?

Well, I don't agree with it either, but I can give you (20 reasons why they did it.

2. strength of scheduled teams so far.

 

I mean, realisticly, beating Lewis Co. & East Carter is not the same (in their minds) as playing Ironton, Raceland, & Pikeville. granted, the Tomcats thumped Pikeville, but in reality Pikeville is still probably alot better than either Lewis Co. or East Carter, and Raceland is ranked #3 in the AP, & Ironton is well...Ironton and 3-1.

I see this as everyone BUT Ashland has to earn their spot. Fairview is undefeated against their schedule. They should be higher than Ashland. The poll will eventually work itself out,but how about making Ashland earn their spot??

Well said Painter, I was one that thought Ashand should be above Fairview and I stated my reason in an earlier post.

As for the bolded part, imo every team has work to do besides worrying about a poll.

Those were my reasons why I rate them higher. As I along with others have said, this week with Raceland vs. Fairview along with Russell vs. Ashland things should be much clearer.

Personally I think Lawrence may be better than the bottom 3, maybe bottom 4 on that list. They did stick with Belfry and only lost by 1 TD.

^ That is a good point and you may very well be right, Lawrence is much better this season. I believe everyone may be going on their last few years and automatically writing them off.
